Detroit Is The Most Messed Up City

As many of you have already heard Detroit public schools has the worst test scores in our nations history. If you want to see what happens to a city and a people when run as liberal as you can just look at Detroit. The Democrats would like everyone to blame the color of the peoples skin for the shape the city is in. But we conservatives know better. We know that the amount of melanin in ones skin has nothing to do with thier character. But the left would like us all to believe color of skin is the problem not the 40 yrs of liberal rule and distruction of a city. Detroit has raised a generation of people that are wanting much but ignorent. Unemploiyment in the Motorcity is at an all time high. But no worries because the liberals will make sure they keep throwing money at the problem. See that is what Detroit has done for decades is throw money at it. The teachers can't teach the kids so they need more money. And the amount of Democrats that are corrupt amazes me. In the liberal mind they never fix anything. They just make it much worse. Vouchers have been a proven way to fix the problems in Detroit but that would hurt the unions. The Democrats don't care about the kids. They just care about unions and their votes. For the past 40 yrs we have tryed liberal rule in Detroit and we have gone from the best city to the worst. Houses in Detroit are selling for $7,000 all day long. So if this is the future you want for our country lets keep doing what Obama and the Democrats want. It's time we stop blamming the color of the skin and start blamming the liberal "give me" culture of corruption the Democrats have made. It is way past the time of repentence for Detroit and our country. And we must stop enabling these liberal cities and states because they will never learn the values needed to run a city, state or country for that matter. Please pray for our brothers and sister in Detroit as they have little choice in the quality of education they will get.

  2. According to the job-hunting Web site Juju.com, Detroit ranks 50th out of 50 major cities as the most difficult place to find work.

The Web site, which collects "help wanted" postings from job boards such as Careerbuilder.com, employers and staffing agencies, took the unemployment numbers and divided them by the number of open jobs from its listings.

"In Detroit, there's basically 21.6 unemployed people for every job that's open," said Brendan Cruickshank, Juju's vice president.

Now what could possibly wrong in Detroit? The city has been run by liberal Democrats for 50 years! In fact, Detroit is the most liberal city in the U.S. if one goes by voting record:

    2008 General Election results-DEM: 96.93% GOP: 2.65%
    2006 General Election results-DEM: 95.05% GOP: 4.33%
    2004 General Election results-DEM: 93.61% GOP: 5.93%

The Stockholm Syndrome on a massive societal scale. I have pointed this out several times before, but it's worth repeating yet again. One of my all-time favorite movies of all time is The Shawshank Redemption. In it, Morgan Freeman, aka "Red", coined the term when prisoners become dependent on the prison system and can no longer survive without it - institutionalized. One of the older prisoners, Brooks, was willing to kill to stay in the system as he knew nothing else after so many years. Yet they let him out and he promptly hung himself. He was institutionalized. The Democrats have institutionalizing the black population in this country, no different than slave masters did many decades ago. The same party that fought for slavery, not against it, segregated schools and filibustered the Civil Rights Acts of 1964 now has shackled the black population to another form of slavery - slavery to the state. Stripped naked of their dignity, their hope and their self-reliance.

  3. What do Detroit, Chicago, and New Orleans have in common? They are failing cities run by liberal progressives. In Chicago gang violence and corruption is rampant. In Detroit the whole system is collapsing. New Orleans? We all know what happened there. Across the country cities and states that are struggling the most are run by liberal progressives. The states that are doing the best are ran by conservatives. Why are the liberal progressive states and communities failing? I have pinned it down to four major causes:

    1. A lack of Morality
Children are taught that sex is a must and marriage is an option. Is it any wonder we have so many children in our cities growing up without fathers. Study after study shows that girls that grow up without a father are more likely to become pregnant as teenagers. Boys and girls who grow up without the influence of a father are less likely to graduate high school. This makes them less likely to succeed in society, often they turn to crime. The progressive liberals say let the kids have their fun, and what ever you do don’t you dare mention God.

    2. The Dole
In the cities that are failing large portions of the population are on the some form of government handout. These handouts give unwed mothers financial incentive to have more children out of wedlock. The handouts give financial incentive to working men and women, to choose not to work. Individuals learn (like domesticated animals) to rely on their government masters. This creates a huge burden on the cities. In order to pay for these taxes cities raise taxes. This drives out business creating even more job loss.

    3. Lack of Education
This is a huge problem throughout our nation, but it is even worse in many so called progressive cities. I have noticed something in many of the young people I work with. Those from liberal cities and states tend to know less about our world and less about our history. These are intelligent people, but they lack real education. Most of them have no idea who Mao was. Few have any idea what is in the bill of rights. They have no idea how government is supposed to work. They have become little more than pawns in the progressive social experiment.

    4. Corruption
Our society is full of corruption. Conservative and liberal leaders are both guilty of this on a massive scale, but it is worse in these failing cities. Can you think of any city or state that is even close to approaching Chicago’s level of corruption? New Orleans and Detroit are also full of corruption. While there are many corrupt conservative politicians, the progressives are often corrupt on an organizational level.

There are many other reasons why progressive led cities and states are failing, but these four stand out in my mind as the most significant.

  5. During one week in March of this year, 13 homicides took place in Washington, D.C. On a per capita basis that was higher than most weeks in Baghdad. Chicago was not far behind, as they witnessed a crime spree that left 12 Chicago citizens shot dead in a six-day period in April.

Blame was quickly placed on gun owners with Chicago School Superintendent Arne Duncan leading the way, commenting the murders resulted from “our appalling fascination with guns”. It seems to me it represents an “appalling fascination with murder” not guns since 99.99% of Illinois gun-owners were not involved in the murders. Most of the murders were committed by young people, making one wonder if there is a stronger relationship to Chicago school’s 51% graduation rate than a “fascination with guns”. The graduation rate is something Mr. Duncan has control of, so it may be something he would rather not talk about. It is much easier for Duncan to blame guns and lack of gun control, rather than address his own shortcomings.

Washington, D.C. and Chicago have some of the strongest gun control laws in the country. Obviously, the criminals who committed these crimes were ignoring those laws. In fact, according to Chicago Police statistics from January 1st through April 30th, 96% of murderers had criminal records, as did 72% of the victims. So what we have are criminals, who should not have guns under current gun control laws, killing mostly other known criminals. Of course, about 30% of victims (and maybe more) were innocent bystanders or victims of robbery and home invasion. The question is why are these violent criminals on the street? Isn’t that a “crime control” problem rather than a “gun control” problem?

And who is in charge in these high crime areas? By and large, liberal Democrats control American cities. For example, in Illinois, if you eliminate Chicago murders, the state's murder rate is about the same as Finland's, while Chicago’s rate would be greater than Mexico’s, whose murder rate is the sixth highest in the world. Mexico, by the way, has more restrictive gun laws than the U.S., but a murder rate three times that of the U.S. And, no, restrictions on gun sales do not help. Mexico has only one gun store (in Mexico City) and it takes 30 days for a citizen to be approved to purchase a very restricted list of guns. This pretty well disproves Chicago Mayor Daley’s contention that tighter government control of gun store sales would minimize gun crime.

Another very liberal Democratic city is Detroit--where no Republicans hold an elected citywide office. Disproving Rev. Jeremiah Wright’s contention that it is the white power structure responsible for the African-American dilemma, the mayor, the district attorney and eight of the nine city council members are black. No white guys to blame in this city, just liberal Democrats. Again, when we separate Detroit from the rest of Michigan we find the gun crime problem concentrated in the Democratic areas with Detroit’s 8% of the state's population perpetrating 59% of the murders. That puts Detroit’s murder rate above Jamaica’s, which is the third highest in the world. And Jamaica’s gun laws may be the most restrictive in the world. Possession of a single bullet, with or without a gun, is punishable by life in prison.

Crime control is and always has been a political issue. So, when crime is not controlled adequately, we must then look to the political system in charge. In the case of many American cities, liberal Democrats are in charge and, therefore, must take responsibility--rather than trying to redirect blame to those law-abiding citizens, including gun owners, living outside urban areas. Statistics show--beyond any argument--legal gun ownership, i.e., guns not owned by convicted criminals, is not an issue in inner-city crime.

So, what are the liberal Democratic policies that contribute to the Third World murder rate prevalent in our cities?

    ReplyDelete
  6. 1. Undying liberal Democratic support of public sector unions, especially the teachers unions. High salaries, benefits and pensions of public sector unions drive up taxes, even as economic output decreases. Nowhere is this more apparent than in Detroit where only 21% of high school students graduate. Considering the abject failure to deliver quality education services to their hard-pressed constituents, why don’t liberal Democratic politicians in Detroit opt for school vouchers to allow at least some children to escape the education prison they are shackled to?

    2. An anti-business bias which stifles job growth. In Chicago, both Jesse Jackson and ACORN [Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now] led protests against Wal-Mart opening a store in a poor Chicago neighborhood. Apparently, the creation of 500 jobs was not in the best interest of either Jackson or ACORN. Therefore, Wal-Mart simply moved the store just outside city limits and 500 other people took those jobs. Add to that high property taxes, high crime rates and high regulation hurdles and you have a formula for economic failure which is obvious in places like Chicago and Detroit.

    3. Not discouraging the violent, misogynist and anti-police rhetoric of the hip-hop/rap culture. Failure of officials to take a stand on moral issues contributes to the death spiral of inner-city neighborhoods. When you live in the most crime-infested areas of the country, the police are not pigs, racial profilers or brutality-merchants. They are saviors.

Only by changing self-defeating public policies like those above can city politicians diminish crime rates and encourage self-help and self-improvement. These elected officials should start with vouchers for kids who don’t graduate, create enterprise zones, lower taxes and provide micro-loans to encourage business (and job) development and hand down longer jail sentences for violent criminals. Finally, how about offering more support for law enforcement in crime-ridden neighborhoods to counter the poverty-industrial-complex supporters, such as Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton.

This would not be a resolution for all problems related to our inner-cities, but it would be a start.

JOSH LUCAS STARS IN A BIG EASY THRILLER by Jeff Labrecque

Lucas plays a hard-drinking cop haunted by Hurricane Katrina and the ghost of a homicide victim in Little Murder, due next year. "It's really surreal, steeped in New Orleans humidity and the haze of alcohol," says Lucas. The movie, however, was filmed in Detroit. "The sad truth is that we're making a movie about the devastation of Katrina, and Detroit today is more blasted and burned-out than certain areas of New Orleans after the hurricane."

Senate Deal Lets Health Insurers Rob the Public Purse
    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/emma-rubysachs/senate-deal-lets-health-i_b_388419.html

If you're a health insurer in the United States right now, your worst nightmare is a 50 year old woman with a slowly progressing terminal illness. Throw in some expensive cancer treatments or a long term course of drug therapy and you've got the insurer's bogeyman.

But never fear, the Senate has just swept in to save the day. Too bad the public is the one funding the white night.

The new Senate health care compromise proposes two important changes to the existing health care system: an expansion of Medicaid and an expansion of Medicare. Those who are the very poorest members of a community - including the homeless and chronically unemployed - and those who are the oldest members of a community - those over 55 - will now be taken out of the private insurance system and rolled into the public insurance system.

Older people and poor people are at higher risk for serious illness and other costly health problems. They are expensive and risky and private health insurance companies don't like to have them on their roster.

Middle and upper class Americans under 55, however, are ideal clients. They can pay their premiums, they are at a lower risk for serious illness, and they are unlikely to cost more than they put into their insurance system.

So how is it that, after decades of health insurers who kick sick people off their plans, charge exorbitant rates, refuse to cover people with existing illnesses and lie and cheat to avoid paying out health care costs, the public has decided to relieve the private sector of all the costly and problematic clients.

We'll take on the risk, you enjoy a healthy pool of clients who are very unlikely to threaten the current business model. Sure, you have to pay out 90% of premiums collected in the form of health benefits, but we aren't going to let anything harm your profit margin. We're doing the best we can to take the risk out of the health insurance business.

The hope is that this will drive down insurance costs for the rest of the country. This hope (and we have had such a difficult relationship with hope recently) doesn't even come close to consider the extreme overburdening of a public system that deals only with the unhealthiest patients. It also is not a guaranteed rate reduction.

The Senate is about to take on the worst deal in history. And at the end of the day, the only winners are the same companies who got us in this mess in the first place.

"New Dems" In Congress Paid $100K Each To Weaken Financial Reform

If money is the mother milk of politics, then big bucks from the banks and financial industry are souring financial reform legislation being debated in the House of Representatives this week. A new analysis by Consumer Watchdog shows just how rotten the Capitol Hill dairy is.

Thirty-four members of the U.S. House of Representatives that offered floor amendments to weaken consumer protections in the House financial reform package received $3.8 million in campaign contributions from the financial sector in 2009, an average of $111,000 each. "New Democrats," who delayed consideration of the bill last night until their demands on amendments were met, raised $6.5 million from firms in the financial sector.

The financial sector gave a total of $28 million to all members of the House of Representatives this year.

What's at stake is weakening the Consumer Financial Protection Agency, the top priority for financial industry lobbyists. U.S. Chamber of Commerce executive David Hirschmann said, "We'll spend whatever it takes," upon the launch of a multi-million dollar financial industry campaign against the consumer protection agency in September.

Another top priority is for the banking industry to prohibit states from enacting strong consumer protection laws against financial abuses when federal rules do not provide consumers with enough protection. According to news reports Wednesday night, the amendment forced unspecified changes to the financial reform bill, presumably allowing some additional preemption of state authority. The New Democrat coalition held up consideration of the financial reform bill until changes were made. The list of proposed amendments that would have weakened the Consumer Financial Protection Agency can be found here.

Sponsors of the original amendment to override state consumer protections received $1.4 million in campaign contributions from companies in the financial sector in 2009, and $11.4 million over the course of their careers. Primary sponsor, Illinois Representative Melissa Bean, has received $393,000 from the financial sector, 50% of all the money she raised in 2009. The other sponsors were Reps. Adler (D-NJ), Castle (R-DE), Crowley (D-NY), Herseth Sandlin (D-SD), Lance (R-NJ) and Royce (R-CA). Adler, Bean and Crowley are members of the New Democrat coalition.

Bean represents the worst of the financial industry's Democratic representatives. She's also led a separate drive to preempt state insurance regulations. When half your money comes from one industry, it's sure you're going to represent that industry more than your constituents.

Bean and her fellow representatives may be calling themselves "New Democrats," but there's nothing new about taking money to help a wealthy interest group. That type of corruption is older than Congress. Consumer Watchdog's analysis shows "Banking Democrats" would be a far more appropriate label for this crowd.

Average pay $30,000 over private sector
    By Dennis Cauchon
    USA TODAY

The number of federal workers earning six-figure salaries has exploded during the recession, according to a USA TODAY analysis of federal salary data.

Federal employees making salaries of $100,000 or more jumped from 14% to 19% of civil servants during the recession's first 18 months — and that's before overtime pay and bonuses are counted.

Federal workers are enjoying an extraordinary boom time — in pay and hiring — during a recession that has cost 7.3 million jobs in the private sector.

The highest-paid federal employees are doing best of all on salary increases. Defense Department civilian employees earning $150,000 or more increased from 1,868 in December 2007 to 10,100 in June 2009, the most recent figure available.

When the recession started, the Transportation Department had only one person earning a salary of $170,000 or more. Eighteen months later, 1,690 employees had salaries above $170,000.

The trend to six-figure salaries is occurring throughout the federal government, in agencies big and small, high-tech and low-tech. The primary cause: substantial pay raises and new salary rules.

"There's no way to justify this to the American people. It's ridiculous," says Rep. Jason Chaffetz, R-Utah, a first-term lawmaker who is on the House's federal workforce subcommittee.

Jessica Klement, government affairs director for the Federal Managers Association, says the federal workforce is highly paid because the government employs skilled people such as scientists, physicians and lawyers. She says federal employees make 26% less than private workers for comparable jobs.

USA TODAY analyzed the Office of Personnel Management's database that tracks salaries of more than 2 million federal workers. Excluded from OPM's data: the White House, Congress, the Postal Service, intelligence agencies and uniformed military personnel.

The growth in six-figure salaries has pushed the average federal worker's pay to $71,206, compared with $40,331 in the private sector.

Max Baucus gave girlfriend $14K raise
By MANU RAJU & JOHN BRESNAHAN | 12/11/09

Sen. Max Baucus recently acknowledged his relationship with Melodee Hanes, whom he nominated for the job of U.S. attorney in Montana, after it was first reported on the website MainJustice.com

Sen. Max Baucus (D-Mont.), chairman of the powerful Senate Finance Committee, gave a nearly $14,000 pay raise to a female staffer in 2008, at the time he was becoming romantically involved with her, and later that year took her on a taxpayer-funded trip to Southeast Asia and the Middle East, though foreign policy was not her specialty.

Late last Friday, Baucus acknowledged his relationship with Melodee Hanes, whom he nominated for the job of U.S. attorney in Montana, after it was first reported on the website MainJustice.com. But he said that Hanes withdrew from consideration for the job when the relationship became more serious. The next day, he dismissed calls for an ethics investigation, saying, “I went out of my way to be up and up.”

Since his announcement, more details of the relationship have emerged, raising questions about a workplace romance between a boss and employee that Baucus tried to keep quiet and also contradicting his explanation for why Hanes’s nomination was withdrawn.

Ethics probes may saddle Democrats in 2010
    By JOHN BRESNAHAN | 12/11/09
    http://www.politico.com/news/stories/1209/30474.html

Rep. Charles Rangel (D-N.Y.) is the powerful chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee.

The House ethics committee investigation of Rep. Charles Rangel (D-N.Y.) is likely to extend well into 2010, according to sources familiar with the probe, meaning that the fate of the powerful chairman of the Ways and Means Committee could become a major political issue for House Speaker Nancy Pelosi of California and the Democratic leadership during a difficult election year.

The committee’s investigation of Rangel’s personal finances, now 14 months old, has dragged on far longer than both Pelosi and Rangel had hoped. Pelosi predicted in late 2008 that it would be over by the end of that year or early 2009. Now sources familiar with the Rangel probe say the investigation could continue into February or March.

The veteran New York lawmaker is the most prominent — but hardly the only — Democrat facing ethical questions.

Recently, Rep. Bennie Thompson of Mississippi has had to deny allegations that he used his chairmanship of the Homeland Security Committee to help raise campaign contributions.

In addition, the Justice Department is continuing its criminal investigation into Democratic lawmakers’ dealings with the PMA Group, a now-defunct lobbying firm that specialized in winning multimillion-dollar spending earmarks from the Appropriations Committee for its clients.

Rep. Pete Visclosky of Indiana, a senior member of the Appropriations panel, and his former top aide Charles Brimmer were issued subpoenas as part of that investigation earlier this year. The DOJ probe is ongoing, according to multiple sources.

And on the other side of the Capitol, Sen. Max Baucus of Montana faces accusations that he nominated his girlfriend for a U.S. attorney position in the Justice Department, while Sen. Roland Burris of Illinois was recently admonished by the Senate Ethics Committee for failing to fully disclose his contacts with indicted former Illinois Democratic Gov. Rod Blagojevich over an appointment to the Senate seat vacated by now-President Barack Obama.

Health care loophole would allow coverage limits
    http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20091211/ap_on_go_co/us_health_overhaul_senate_loophole

WASHINGTON – A loophole in the Senate health care bill would let insurers place annual dollar limits on medical care for people struggling with costly illnesses such as cancer, prompting a rebuke from patient advocates.

The legislation that originally passed the Senate health committee last summer would have banned such limits, but a tweak to that provision weakened it in the bill now moving toward a Senate vote.

As currently written, the Senate Democratic health care bill would permit insurance companies to place annual limits on the dollar value of medical care, as long as those limits are not "unreasonable." The bill does not define what level of limits would be allowable, delegating that task to administration officials.

Adding to the puzzle, the new language was quietly tucked away in a clause in the bill still captioned "No lifetime or annual limits."

The 2,074-page bill would carry out President Barack Obama's plan to revamp the health care system, expanding coverage to millions now uninsured and trying to slow budget-busting cost increases. A tentative deal among Senate Democrats to back away from creating a new government program to compete with private insurers appears to have overcome a major obstacle to the bill's passage.

Officials of the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network said they were taken by surprise when the earlier ban on annual coverage limits was undercut, adding that they have not been able to get a satisfactory explanation.

"We don't know who put it in, or why it was put in," said Stephen Finan, a policy expert with the cancer society's advocacy affiliate.
Democratic officials of the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee would not comment publicly but said the bill contains numerous provisions that will benefit patients with cancer and other life-threatening illnesses, not to mention improvements in preventive care.

Advocates for patients say they're concerned the language will stay in the bill all the way to Obama's desk.

"The primary purpose of insurance is to protect people against catastrophic loss," Finan said. "If you put a limit on benefits, by definition it's going to affect people who are dealing with catastrophic loss." The cost of cancer treatment can exceed $100,000 a year.

Under the health care bills in Congress, the major expansion of health insurance coverage won't take place until three to four years after enactment. Democrats have touted a series of consumer protections as immediate benefits Americans will secure through the legislation. Both the Senate and House bills, for example, ban lifetime limits on the dollar value of coverage.

But Finan said the change in the Senate bill essentially invalidates the legislation's ban on lifetime limits.

"If you can have annual limits, saying there's no lifetime limits becomes meaningless," he said. A patient battling aggressive disease in its later stages could conceivably exhaust insurance benefits in the course of a year.

It's unclear how widespread such coverage limits are in the current insurance marketplace. Large employers have moved away from coverage limits, but insurers have wide discretion in designing plans for small businesses and individual customers.

In the House bill, neither annual nor lifetime limits would be allowable under an essential benefits package intended to provide comprehensive coverage.

  24. I personally like how the Hypocrats are cutting Medicare, and then they want to expand it, and this is going to save us money? Hmmmm ... supply (doctors, treatments, etc) remains the same, reimbursement goes down, demand goes up, and this is going to save money HOW?! Oh, because it's subsidized! Oh, wait, what are subsidies again? Oh, it's taken from Obama's stash, because he's the president and he has all this money? Oh, thanks for explaining it to me Hypocrats.

  25. Somebody get Seattle some global warming STAT. Looks like the "Next Ice Age" alarmists of the '70's were right, only off by about 40 years:

Seattle has record lows for second day in row
For the second straight day Thursday, the temperature hit a record low in Seattle.

For the second straight day Thursday, the temperature hit a record low in Seattle.

National Weather Service meteorologist Dustin Guy says the low of 16 before dawn Thursday at Sea-Tac Airport broke the low of 21 set on that date in 1972. Wednesday's record low was 18.

Burke says Western Washington temperatures should start warming up over the weekend and might get back to highs in the 40s by Tuesday. He says there's only a chance of snow during the change.

Some other Thursday morning temperatures: Olympia 7, Bremerton 14, and Bellingham 14.

It's just little ole me pointing out that you Hypocrats are the dirtiest bunch of liars ever. You're strangely silent on the matter. Looks like if you want to vote for the less-corrupt party the Republicans are where it's at. Sure didn't take long for the power to corrupt your white knights, did it Brucie? Well that's because they were already corrupt.

  30. For Bruce Failk's ultra-dirty Clintons, more business-as-usual payoffs for the dirty Hypocrats:

Mark Penn's two firms awarded millions from stimulus for public relations work
    By Alexander Bolton - 12/09/09

A contract worth nearly $6 million in stimulus funds was awarded by the Obama adminstration to two firms run by Mark Penn, Hillary Clinton's pollster in 2008.

Federal records show that a contract worth $5.97 million, part of the $787 billion stimulus Congress passed this year, helped preserve three jobs at Burson-Marsteller, the global public-relations and communications firm headed by Penn.

Burson-Marsteller won the contract to work on a public-relations campaign to advertise the national switch from analog to digital television. Nearly $2.8 million of the contract was awarded through a subcontract to Penn's polling firm, Penn, Schoen & Berland, according to federal records.

Federal records also show that a former adviser to President Barack Obama's 2008 presidential campaign received nearly $70,000 from that contract to help alert viewers in difficult-to-reach communities that their televisions would ssoon no longer receive broadcast signals.

The adviser, Alfredo J. Balsera, who heads a public-affairs firm based in Coral Gables, Fla., helped craft Obama’s Hispanic advertising message.

Republicans on Tuesday criticized the federal spending on the advertising project as a waste of taxpayer dollars. They noted that the advertising campaign took place on May 5, only 39 days before the digital television transition was scheduled (June 12).

GOP Sens. John McCain (Ariz.) and Tom Coburn (Okla.) held a news conference Tuesday to blast 100 “wasteful” projects funded by the $787 billion economic stimulus package Congress passed earlier this year, concluding that at least $7 billion of the $217 billion spent through November was wasteful and mismanaged

  31. Everybody remember how McCain said that we had to cut the fat from the government, and Obama said we had to use a "scalpel" to do real careful and precise cutting?!? Well not only is Obummer not using a scalpel, he's actively injecting lard directly into this already bloated and corrupted government. Hypocraty Hope and Change!!

The public option you have when you are not having a public option

Only in the nation's capitol could people pushing Obamacare keep a straight face while claiming that a new health insurance operation to be run by the same government agency that manages the federal bureaucracy is actually a private program. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, hoping to mollify the liberal wing of his party, insists that it's still a "public option," but everybody else on the Democratic side seems to think the public option has been replaced by this new "private" option. Thus, Reuters News Agency reported that "Democratic Senate sources said the substitute would create a non-profit plan operated by private insurers but administered by the Office of Personnel Management, which supervises health coverage for federal workers." The OPM runs the Federal Employee Health Benefits Program, but that is only part of its duties in managing the federal government's 2 million-plus career civil service workers.

Call it what they will, Reid and his fellow Obamacrats are still doing what they've been doing for months, seeking 60 Senate votes for a trillion-dollar federal takeover of the nation's health care system. First, it was the banking and automotive industries disappearing into Leviathan's gaping maw; now the health care industry, accounting for one-sixth of the private economy, is about to become a ward of the government, too. If they succeed, Reid and the Obamacrats will turn the day-to-day operation of the world's best health care system over to the same bumbling cast of characters who managed the TARP bailout for pinstriped thieves on Wall Street, the mortgage foreclosure crisis birthed by ACORN's government-backed banking industry blackmail, and the Cash-for-Clunkers debacle. Sleep tight tonight, America, because Barack, Harry and Nancy are taking good care of you.

If the claim that government-run health insurance can be a "private" program is patently absurd, this latest Senate Obamacare deal actually includes something even more bizarre. Millions more Americans are to be made eligible for Medicare, which is supposed to be cut by $500 billion to pay for this Rube Goldberg contraption. Go figure. As it is, Medicare is the federal government's biggest entitlement program and the one closest to bankruptcy. According to the latest Medicare Trustees Report, the program has a $36 trillion unfunded liability that is certain to explode in 2011 when the first of the baby boomers retire and begin drawing benefits. Try as Reid and the Obamacrats might, there is no getting away from this cold, hard fact: The government has for decades promised Medicare benefits it cannot pay for without either raising taxes or cutting benefits promised under other government programs. When private corporations promise benefits they can't deliver, it's called "fraud" and company executives go to jail. When Washington politicians do the same thing, it's called "health care reform."

  35. Bureaucrats Crack Down on Windmill
Posted by Van Helsing at December 11, 2009
    http://www.moonbattery.com/archives/2009/12/bureaucrats-cra-1.html

There isn't much you can do without major hassles in a world micromanaged by petty tyrant bureauweenies — even if you're a moonbat just trying to be green. Larry Walth put up a $10,000 wind turbine to help meet his electricity needs in Wishek, North Dakota. He righteously bleats:

It's energy and it's not coming from coal, which is not clean. I've got grandchildren and I'm concerned about their future and our environment.

You might think authorities would be pleased. But no:

In April, he was denied a permit to put up the wind turbine because it does not meet zoning codes for residential districts. But, in defiance of city officials, he put it up two months later anyway. And now he intends to keep it standing on his two-lot property on the edge of town.

Walth believes he is on firm legal ground since he put up the structure five months before city officials passed a new city zoning ordinance last month banning wind turbines in all non-commercial districts. Walth believes he is exempt from the ordinance, because it would have to be applied retroactively to his turbine.

He said he was fined $50, roughly what he estimates the 2.6-kilowatt turbine saves him each month, after he put up the $10,000 turbine without permit. But the fine could increase to $500 per day if he disregards the city's order to remove it.

It doesn't pay to go up against City Hall, even in Wishek, ND. Walth scoffs at bureaucratic claims that people have complained about his windmill.

"People in this town can't figure out why they're spending all this time to tear it down," he said. "It's on my property. I don't care what they do, even if they get signatures from everyone in town."

That's where Walth went wrong: thinking that it's his property. If it were, everyone would agree that it's none of government's business what he does with it — just like if the wealth you create at your job were your property, the government wouldn't seize whatever percentage of your paycheck greedy bureaucrats deem fit.

Only in a free country like the late great USA do private citizens own property. In today's USSA, all property is effectively owned by the government, to be managed and even redistributed according to bureaucratic whim. Fortunately for Walth, no Kennedys can see his windmill from their seaside mansions, or he'd really be in trouble.

Walth is still hoping that Big Government will give him a 30% energy tax credit for his forbidden turbine.

Well, it’s not like the state voted for the current President anyway. Hell, the often-strained history between West Virginians and national Democrats stretches back to 1863. Still, this is a little… petty… of the Democratic party, isn’t it?

A Pittsburgh-based coal company, CONSOL Energy, will lay off nearly 500 of its West Virginia workers next year and its CEO blames environmentalists dead-set against mountaintop mining who have waged “nuisance” lawsuits for the job loss.

But CONSOL Energy’s political problems are not unique to the mining industry, which has suffered under the Obama Administration. The Environmental Protection Agency is already holding 79 surface mining permits in West Virginia, Kentucky, Ohio and Tennessee. The EPA says these permits could violate the Clean Water Act and warrant “enhanced” review. And, agency went even further in October, announcing plans to revoke a permit for the Spruce No. 1 Mine in West Virginia.

Via Dana Loesch (via Instapundit) which also has video of the President casually talking about strangling future coal power generation: I’d also like to note that this should come as no surprise to anybody. You Were Warned. Repeatedly. I Told You So. Finally, I’m sure that local Democrats Congressmen Alan Mollohan* and Nick Rahall**, Senator Jay Rockefeller, and Senator Robert Byrd’s staff are all quiveringly eager to explain to their constituents why their own political party is using the federal government to promote a Crusade against the state of West Virginia.

    Or perhaps they’re just quivering.

  38. Byrd?!??! Is that old Klu Klux Klan Grand Klegel still alive? Boy, a 105-year old geriatric with dementia, there's some hope and change for you. Still, it's about the best the Hypocrats can do.

Failk, what do you think about that Jew-hating racist Byrd, think he's some great Hypocrat?! You must be proud of him. Did he even attend that black man's inauguration, or did he fake an illness so he didn't have to? And now that black man Obummer is getting back at him, kind of like reparations, by shutting down clean coal plants and the like. If I didn't know any better I would say that Obummer is trying to increase the price of oil and energy. I bet his cronies have a stock in some energy companies that will directly profit from this. Dirty Hypocrats.

Failk's blog is likely too radical even for your "normal" run-of-the-mill lieberal Hypocrat. Even Failk is too extreme, look how he defends those crooked Hypocrats in a knee-jerk reactionary way.

Bruce Failk just refuses to acknowledge that Anthropogenic Global Cooling is a documented reality and that we must take steps to increase CO2 output to try to warm this planet. He refuses to acknowledge that the Hypocrats are the most crooked party ever in the history of These United States of America. He refuses to acknowledge that the Hypocrats are the most racist party even though they have an active member of the Klan as a sitting Senator. Keep your head in the sand and keep quizzing each other over on your blog Failk!! BWAAAAHAHAHAHA
