Barney Frank: Not Allowing Gays and Straights to Shower Together is ‘Discrimination’

Not allowing gay military personnel to shower with straight military peronnel would be “discrimination.” That’s the position of Rep. Barney Frank (D-MA), an openly gay member of Congress who is a proponent of banishing the military’s “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy. Frank told CNSNews.com that the idea that people might be concerned over gays and straights showering together, and the possible disruption it could case, is a “silly issue”:
“To accept the principle that homosexuals can’t shower with other people is a degree of discrimination that goes far beyond this. We don’t get ourselves dry cleaned. We tend to take showers when we go to the gym; when we play sports,” Frank said. Oh, great. That should make the majority of our military a little queasy. Would you feel comfortable showering with an outwardly gay person? The next thing the liberals will want to do is let women walk around "topless" to fight "crime" like in "Canada". Just like one of our liberal commenter's said. And we can't discriminate against women either so let's have one big nude fest in the military showers. All this while someone is trying to kill you. Do you think this liberalization of our military is distracting to them? Is it worth the risks so 3% of the population gets "social justice"? On top of all this our military got the lowest increase in pay this year. I'd like you to ask the next soldier you see if the military is at an all time low morality. I've yet to not get an ear full on that question. Don't take my word for it just ask a soldier when you see one.

  1. I say again, by this logic, men & women in the military should also shower together.

By the way, take a look at Barney Frank... do you really think he goes to the gym?

  2. Of course Barney Frank will say this. He's bias and would love to shower with men.
So is this 'discrimination' or will it be harassment.

  3. Now I can't shower at the gym any more. Why do they push their homosexuality on us like this?

  4. Chris, did the military get the lowest pay raise this year?

My understanding is that the Us Military received 3.4 % raise this year.

You might be discussing the proposed and passed military budget which included a 1.4% percent increase tied to the EIC projected for 2011.

And while this pay increase is not substantial it is tied to what the Dept of Labor expects the average american to receive.

  5. And i never said women going topless fights crime.

That is a gross and malicious mis-characterization.

I indicated that the United States puritan obsession with reducing nudity instead of violence in our culture was one of the reasons Canada has a lower per capita crime rate than the US.
