Repeal ObamaCare War Room

Repeal is real!  On January 19th, as its first major act, the new Republican majority in the U.S. House of Representatives passed a bill to COMPLETELY REPEAL OBAMACARE!
The bipartisan, 245-189 House vote for repeal was historic and unprecedented.
Building on that momentum, on February 2nd, Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) forced the Senate to vote on the full repeal bill (dubbed the McConnell Amendment).  Unfortunately, Democrats narrowly defeated the amendment on a straight party-line vote: 51 Democrats voted no, 47 Republicans voted yes, and 2 Democrats were absent (but would probably have voted no).  We need 4 Senate Democrats to switch sides in a future vote to have a majority in both chambers.
FreedomWorks’ network of over 1 million grassroots activists is leading the fight for health care freedom with a nationwide campaign of emails, phone calls to Congress, and district office visits to support the repeal of Obamacare and its replacement with a patient-centered approach.
Meanwhile, two federal district courts (one in Virginia, one in Florida) have now ruled that Obamacare's individual mandate to purchase health insurance is unconstitutional.  These rulings are a huge vindication for FreedomWorks and other opponents of the individual mandate.  The cases are being appealed, and will probably end up in the U.S. Supreme Court in 2012 or 2013.
Unfortunately, we can't count on the courts to overturn this terrible law.
We need to persuade Congress to pass legislation to fully repeal Obamacare because it will kill jobs, bankrupt the government, drive up everyone's health insurance costs, put bureaucrats in charge of rationing care, and ruin the world's best health care system.
Obamacare was rammed through Congress last year by Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi, without garnering a single Republican vote.  In November, voters gave Republicans majority control of the House of Representatives in large part as a repudiation of the Democrats' arrogant health care legislation.

Polls have consistently shown that a solid majority of Americans want Washington to reverse the government takeover of health care and adopt a patient-centered approach.  House passage of Full Repeal is just the first step.  We will keep fighting until it's law.

Here's what's happening:
 1. On January 19th, the House passed the bill H.R. 2, the "Repealing the Job-Killing Health Care Law" Act.  H.R. 2 would repeal Obamacare entirely, as if it had never been passed.  It has gone over to the Senate, where it has been "held at the desk," meaning a handful of Senators can call it up for a full Senate vote at any time during the next two years.
2.  Sen. Jim DeMint (R-SC) has offered a bill, S.129, that is identical to the House-passed bill, H.R.2.  All 47 Senate Republicans have now cosponsored Sen. DeMint's bill, and all 47 have voted in favor of the bill when it was offered by the Senate Republican Leader, Mitch McConnell (R-KY), as an amendment to an unrelated measure.  Ultimately, we will need 60 votes in the Senate to overcome Sen. Majority Leader Harry Reid's (D-NV) filibuster, pass Full Repeal through the Senate, and put it on President Obama's desk.  In the near term, we need four Senate Democrats to switch sides and join the Republicans on this issue, in order to have a majority in both chambers, which would send shockwaves through the Washington establishment and K Street special interests. Therefore, we need to get as many Democratic Senators to cosponsor S.129 as possible.   Call and write Democratic Senators today, and urge them to cosponsor S.192, the "Repealing the Job-Killing Health Care Law" Act.

  1. I just emailed a letter to Levin and Stabinaue using this website. It took 2 min. to send the letter to them. Just type in your zip code. I have two of the farthest lefties. But just look at how many Democrats are not running again thanks to the push of their constituents. Keep the Republicans honest and the DemocRats running. We can do a lot of damage to the Progressive machine. 1000 tinny cuts.

  2. This is how bad Obamas budget is, even liberal Andrew Sullivan(JoeC hero) said this..."They[Senators] have to lead, because this president is too weak, too cautious, too beholden to politics over policy to lead. In this budget, in his refusal to do anything concrete to tackle the looming entitlement debt, in his failure to address the generational injustice, in his blithe indifference to the increasing danger of default, he has betrayed those of us who took him to be a serious president prepared to put the good of the country before his short term political interests. Like his State of the Union, this budget is good short term politics but such a massive pile of fiscal bullshit it makes it perfectly clear that Obama is kicking this vital issue down the road.
To all those under 30 who worked so hard to get this man elected, know this: he just screwed you over. He thinks you're fools. Either the US will go into default because of Obama's cowardice, or you will be paying far far more for far far less because this president has no courage when it counts. He let you down. On the critical issue of America's fiscal crisis, he represents no hope and no change. Just the same old Washington politics he once promised to end."
It seems like everyone is starting to come out of the ether now.

  3. Chris At this time the old guard republicans seem to still have enough control to keep the same ole same ole in Washington. There does not seem to be Urgency on their part to SHIT or get off the POT and that concerns me.
Without a real assault on the DEFICIT we will be on the same merry go round just a few different riders.
Politicans had better find their BALLS and soon, eventually DEBT will over come Us and then we will be NO better than Greece or any of thoses European Nations. Politicans have tried to take away Americas Greatness one Trillion at a time with DEBT and if Citizens do not become involved they will succeed.
I also beleive there has to be a THIRD party but time will NOT allow that to happen. Until we have politicans who beleive America is still great WE are on a very dangerous coarse!

  4. Chris, i love that you quote Andrew on this because he's right.

But lets not forget to offer up Andrew's criticism of the Republicans too....

"If Obama backs Bowles-Simpson, the GOP will savage him for the tax hikes, while also scaring the wits out of the elderly on Medicare. The Democratic left - just look at HuffPo today - will have a cow. Indeed, if Obama backs anything, the GOP will automatically oppose him."

In the end the budget is a half-hearted attempt to please as many people as he can while letting the "Scorched earth tactics" of the right work against them. He's playing a political game that while increases his chances with many people in 2012 it decreases his chances with me.

At this point in my life i find the Bowles-Simspon method a fairly sound and thoughtful way to do things. I don't like many of the aspects of it, but i have to accept that measures outside of my political dogma and personal comfort are needed.

  5. Al, you can forget about a third party being relevant for more than a handful of elections. There's no will in the people to find a thoughtful middle ground.

The Tea Party has turned into another hypocritical extreme that will die out.

  6. Joe We have hypocritical extremist on both side of the FENCE ,however, I am on the side of doing something to actually FUND what we can and then CUT what we MUST. Only way to make OUR Nations Economy strong again. Politicans have damaged OUR Economy in so many ways but Finding the Starting line in this race seems to be the problem with Politicans NOW!

Bowles-Simpson is a starting point or Rolling back to 2008 Spending would be another. All Citizens for the most part want is decision and action. All wont be satisfied but no other way.

  7. Al, the idea of a roll back is so extremely silly its laughable. Its little more than a contrived political message that has no basis even being considered by someone elected to run this country. And of course its designed to appeal to conservatives on a subconscious level as it marks the beginning of Obama's election.

Its so stupid that i almost over looked how effective it could be in beguiling people, especially conservatives. With Simpson-bowles you have to think and adapt to realities that you might have never considered. With the rollback they just give you the numbers and you don't have to think, you don't have to wonder how it will be accomplished and what effect it will have on you.

the idea also rivals Obama's budget in terms of lack of leadership. The people voting on the budget don't have to lead or show any initiative they just point to a number and their day is done. Its then up to the government to figure out what to cut in their depts.

and then if the effects on the American people are not good, well its not the republicans fault they didn't make the choices, they just set the budget. Its shit but its brilliant.

so what we end up with is a Washington full of people not wanting to do their jobs. Great. Bad enough my guy is being a political asshole, now the party of personal responsibility is wimping the fuck out too.
