Repeal ObamaCare War Room

Repeal is real!  On January 19th, as its first major act, the new Republican majority in the U.S. House of Representatives passed a bill to COMPLETELY REPEAL OBAMACARE!
The bipartisan, 245-189 House vote for repeal was historic and unprecedented.
Building on that momentum, on February 2nd, Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) forced the Senate to vote on the full repeal bill (dubbed the McConnell Amendment).  Unfortunately, Democrats narrowly defeated the amendment on a straight party-line vote: 51 Democrats voted no, 47 Republicans voted yes, and 2 Democrats were absent (but would probably have voted no).  We need 4 Senate Democrats to switch sides in a future vote to have a majority in both chambers.
FreedomWorks’ network of over 1 million grassroots activists is leading the fight for health care freedom with a nationwide campaign of emails, phone calls to Congress, and district office visits to support the repeal of Obamacare and its replacement with a patient-centered approach.
Meanwhile, two federal district courts (one in Virginia, one in Florida) have now ruled that Obamacare's individual mandate to purchase health insurance is unconstitutional.  These rulings are a huge vindication for FreedomWorks and other opponents of the individual mandate.  The cases are being appealed, and will probably end up in the U.S. Supreme Court in 2012 or 2013.
Unfortunately, we can't count on the courts to overturn this terrible law.
We need to persuade Congress to pass legislation to fully repeal Obamacare because it will kill jobs, bankrupt the government, drive up everyone's health insurance costs, put bureaucrats in charge of rationing care, and ruin the world's best health care system.
Obamacare was rammed through Congress last year by Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi, without garnering a single Republican vote.  In November, voters gave Republicans majority control of the House of Representatives in large part as a repudiation of the Democrats' arrogant health care legislation.

Polls have consistently shown that a solid majority of Americans want Washington to reverse the government takeover of health care and adopt a patient-centered approach.  House passage of Full Repeal is just the first step.  We will keep fighting until it's law.

Here's what's happening:
 1. On January 19th, the House passed the bill H.R. 2, the "Repealing the Job-Killing Health Care Law" Act.  H.R. 2 would repeal Obamacare entirely, as if it had never been passed.  It has gone over to the Senate, where it has been "held at the desk," meaning a handful of Senators can call it up for a full Senate vote at any time during the next two years.
2.  Sen. Jim DeMint (R-SC) has offered a bill, S.129, that is identical to the House-passed bill, H.R.2.  All 47 Senate Republicans have now cosponsored Sen. DeMint's bill, and all 47 have voted in favor of the bill when it was offered by the Senate Republican Leader, Mitch McConnell (R-KY), as an amendment to an unrelated measure.  Ultimately, we will need 60 votes in the Senate to overcome Sen. Majority Leader Harry Reid's (D-NV) filibuster, pass Full Repeal through the Senate, and put it on President Obama's desk.  In the near term, we need four Senate Democrats to switch sides and join the Republicans on this issue, in order to have a majority in both chambers, which would send shockwaves through the Washington establishment and K Street special interests. Therefore, we need to get as many Democratic Senators to cosponsor S.129 as possible.   Call and write Democratic Senators today, and urge them to cosponsor S.192, the "Repealing the Job-Killing Health Care Law" Act.
