Agency: Attorney General
March 22, 2010
LANSING - Michigan Attorney General Mike Cox today announced that Michigan has joined the State of Florida in a lawsuit challenging the constitutionality of health care legislation passed by the U.S. House of Representatives Sunday night (H.R. 3590).
"Congress' attempt to force Michigan families to buy health insurance - or else - raises serious constitutional concerns," said Cox. "We will fight to defend the individual rights and freedoms of Michigan citizens against this radical overreach by the federal government."
Michigan joined several states in Florida's legal challenge to H.R. 3590. The lawsuit challenges Congressional authority under the U.S. Constitution to enact an individual mandate compelling Michigan citizens to purchase health insurance or face large fines.
Cox also expressed concern about the continued inclusion of the so-called "Cornhusker Kickback" in legislation. The "Kickback" allows the State of Nebraska to avoid paying its fair share of an expansion of Medicaid by forcing taxpayers in states like Michigan to pick up the $100 million tab.
In December, Cox joined a bi-partisan group of Attorneys General from across the country opposing the kickback and demanding Congress remove the unfair provision or potentially face legal action.

Common Sense
This 2,700 page health care bill must be worse then we know. If it was so great then why are they acting like cowards by not putting their names to it? The Progressives engineered this health care bill and they can't even get their own party to agree on it. Obama and Congress have been telling us this bill is good for us but they hide it from us. The president it acting desperate bringing in the fainting people and the sick people that will die if they don't get this bill passed. If those people existed why couldn't Obama fine some real ones dieing without care. And once this thing gets jamed down our throats we will have been addicted to the intitlement program until it can no longer exist. Just like SSI and Medicare. If we add 30 million people to free health care insurance where will we get all the doctors to treat them all? Yeh no one will die waiting for a doctor because you just gave people a new car and they want to drive it right away. This bill will be the killer and we need to stop this bill from going through or it will be too late. The left wing blogs are saying that the abortion in the bill actually help cut costs. Is that what we have become? If they don't mind killing babies the elderly should be a breeze to kill. Our government has no right to give us our rights. Only God gives us rights if we can keep them. Governement takes rights away.

Obama Lied About Keeping Your Doctor And Some Still Believe Them
Holder: I Ordered Miranda Rights for Underwear Bomber
Attorney General Eric Holder says he made the decision to read the underwear bomber suspect his Miranda rights — and he’s hammering Republicans for politicizing a practice he says they backed when George W. Bush was in office.“I made the decision to charge Mr. Abdulmutallab with federal crimes, and to seek his detention in connection with those charges, with the knowledge of, and with no objection from, all other relevant departments of the government,” Holder wrote in a letter to senators Monday.
He called the decision “fully consistent” with precedents set by “administrations of both parties.”
“Those policies and practices, which were not criticized when employed by previous administrations, have been and remain extremely effective in protecting national security,” he said. He didn't of course say he lied, but admitted that it wasn't true. Now he tells us, months after 1) making the promise on multiple occasions, and 2) trying to ram the bill down our throats regardless. Of course, this is just another in a long string of broken promises. From Real Clear Politics via Instapundit, memeorandum: Obama's Stunning Admission. Here's the must-see video:
I haven't seen anyone focus on the President's rather stunning admission about the Democrats' health care legislation (Video):
Obama outright admited he and the Democrats lied about keeping your doctor. How many times has he and his progressive minion say that "we can keep our doctor"? Common sense tells us that can't be true. I'm sure there are a lot more lies hiden within the 2000 pages. This is one more proof that the Democrats will lie to the people of America and sneek in a health care bill that will control us. I'm getting sick and tired of the liberals telling us to just trust the Democrats. We don't even trust our own party and you want us to trust yours? That would be dumb. But when these guys are cought lieing we need to cut that cancer out. We need to expect all of our politicians to tell the truth no matter what letter comes after your name. If you wouldn't have it if your spouse lied to you or your boss. There comes a lose of truts every time the Democrats and Republicans lie. Obama said he would pull out of Iraq in 2009,GITMO he promised would be closed by now,he said they wouldn't torture but only changed the definition,he said he would get the debt down and creat jobs. He said unemployment wouldn't get past 8% it's at 10.4% and he did it by design. He didn't make jobs or the economy his #1 priority. We still have the Partiot Act and a ton of lobiest in his admin. We all have reason to be pissed and we all need to speak up like we did with Bush on his progressive agendas. Thanks to the Democrats and the Republicans we might loose our AAA-rating. Just keep spending like there is no tommorow and there wont be.

Unions:What are they good for?
What do you all think of the unions and other "friends" of Obama's not having to pay their taxes on health care reform? The unions were some of the loudest ralliers of this health care reform bill and yet they will not have to pay for it like the rest of America. Is this part of how the unions have "made the middle class"? Or is it more like what the conservatives feel about the unions destroying the middle class? The unions and the Democrat Party better get ready for some uneasy Americans, if this bill goes through.

What is the health care reform really about?
Health insurance profit margins typically run about 6 percent, give or take a point or two. That's anemic compared with other forms of insurance and a broad array of industries, even some beleaguered ones.
Profits barely exceeded 2 percent of revenues in the latest annual measure. This partly explains why the credit ratings of some of the largest insurers were downgraded to negative from stable heading into this year, as investors were warned of a stagnant if not shrinking market for private plans.
Insurers are an expedient target for leaders who want a government-run plan in the marketplace. Such a public option would force private insurers to trim profits and restrain premiums to compete, the argument goes. This would "keep insurance companies honest," says President Barack Obama.
The debate is loaded with intimations that insurers are less than straight, when they are not flatly accused of malfeasance.
They may not have helped their case by commissioning a report that looked primarily at the elements of health care legislation that might drive consumer costs up while ignoring elements aimed at bringing costs down. Few in the debate seem interested in a true balance sheet.
But in pillorying insurers over profits, the critics are on shaky ground. A look at some claims, and the numbers:
THE CLAIMS
_"I'm very pleased that (Democratic leaders) will be talking, too, about the immoral profits being made by the insurance industry and how those profits have increased in the Bush years." House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., who also welcomed the attention being drawn to insurers'"obscene profits."
_"Keeping the status quo may be what the insurance industry wants their premiums have more than doubled in the last decade and their profits have skyrocketed." Maryland Rep. Chris Van Hollen, member of the Democratic leadership.
_"Health insurance companies are willing to let the bodies pile up as long as their profits are safe." A MoveOn.org ad.
THE NUMBERS:
Health insurers posted a 2.2 percent profit margin last year, placing them 35th on the Fortune 500 list of top industries. As is typical, other health sectors did much better - drugs and medical products and services were both in the top 10.
The railroads brought in a 12.6 percent profit margin. Leading the list: network and other communications equipment, at 20.4 percent.
HealthSpring, the best performer in the health insurance industry, posted 5.4 percent. That's a less profitable margin than was achieved by the makers of Tupperware, Clorox bleach and Molson and Coors beers.
The star among the health insurance companies did, however, nose out Jack in the Box restaurants, which only achieved a 4 percent margin.
UnitedHealth Group, reporting third quarter results last week, saw fortunes improve. It managed a 5 percent profit margin on an 8 percent growth in revenue.
Van Hollen is right that premiums have more than doubled in a decade, according to a Kaiser Family Foundation study that found a 131 percent increase.
But were the Bush years golden ones for health insurers?
Not judging by profit margins, profit growth or returns to shareholders. The industry's overall profits grew only 8.8 percent from 2003 to 2008, and its margins year to year, from 2005 forward, never cracked 8 percent.
The latest annual profit margins of a selection of products, services and industries: Tupperware Brands, 7.5 percent; Yahoo, 5.9 percent; Hershey, 6.1 percent; Clorox, 8.7 percent; Molson Coors Brewing, 8.1 percent; construction and farm machinery, 5 percent; Yum Brands (think KFC, Pizza Hut, Taco Bell), 8.5 percent. Now for the big question. Do you really think that our government and it's record of wasting our money, do a better job at under 6% waste? And with only a 6% profit margine it's obvious insurance companies are the real problem. So what is this Health Care Reform really about? It isn't about the profit margines of the insurance companies or about the government doing a better job at a lower profit margine then the insurance companies? We know that isn't what this is about either. It couldn't possably be about more government takeovers and the power that comes with it? It isn't about our government tawking over our lives and our health care is it? Could it be about money? The unions have a lot to gain from a one payer system and the Democrats do what the unions tell them to do no matter what harm it causes we the people and the country. This ain't about the 6% profit margines because everyone wishes the government would run that efficent. If the Democrats pass this health care bill then it isn't going to look good for them in the next couple of decades. And if you need proof of government waste and irresponsable managment just look at when Medicare becomes bankrupt. Yeh that happens in 2016. And if you want to know who will get stuck with the bill on all this spending just look at our youth. We aren't leaving them the SSI they payed into,Medicare they payed for and a national debt like none other. But they voted for Obama and the Democrats that are doing it to them. But at least they are preparing our future with a great education like none other the world over. LOL. Now lets hear the liberals say that the Republicans and I are getting paid by the inserance companies. John has already shown us how much the Democrats get from insurance and big pharma. Don't worry though because right when we cover the costs of theis health care reform the unions like SEIU will tell us that their huge pessions aren't funded and we the people and the future generations will be paying for that one too. Spread the wealth, spread the wealth, while the unions are getting buttered up for a grand future. We the people need to fight back and fight back hard or this will cost us our future. And unless you want to work till your dead then you better stop this "fundamental change" and give the government what they diserve.

The Three Questions For Health Care Reform
Watch Glenn Beck weekdays at 5p & 2a ET on Fox News Channel So after you watched the video what are the answers to the questions? Why are the Democrats giving up everything they said they wanted to get health care reform passed? Is it for the control over us? Is that the same reason why the Democrats are trying to push a world climate reform? I think all the people that spent the Bush years bitching about the govt taking control of our lives better wake up and smell the coffee. We are in greater debt, still in wars with an escalation in Afghanistan and Iraq is winding down just like Bush planed and the Democrats want to us every bill to pay off their constituents will our money. Instead of taking away the Patriot Act they expanded it. So what has Obama and Congress done for we the people? Are they giving everyone health care? 24 million people will be without health care in this country with this reform bill. There isn't a public option like they promised. It will cost us over $2 trillion and we the people only get scrapes for our money while the govt makes their friends rich.

Libberman Is Digging In His Heels And Will Filibuster Health Care
The Wall Street Journal reports Joe Lieberman is digging in his heels. He will filibuster any health care legislation that contains a public option, even if the legislation allows states to opt-out.
Lieberman has been a thorn in the side of the left ever since they decided to challenge him back in 2006. In that year, the left beat Lieberman in the Connecticut Democrat Primary. Lieberman decided to stay in as an independent in the general election and won. With a number of his long time Senate friends endorsing the Democrat in 2006 because the man had a “D” next to his name, Lieberman has been his own man ever since.
Lieberman retains his Senate committee chairmanship and the privileges of being a Democrat member of the Senate. That may change soon as Harry Reid is staking his reputation on passage of the health care legislation. This health care reform is bad for women, elderly and the sick and the Democrats want it that way. You will be paying for this bill for 5 years before it is viable. How does that make you feel knowing that the Democrats plan does nothing but underfund Medicare/caid for 5 years while you might need help now. Can you afford another tax? Can the country afford another tax without any immediate benefits? And the worse part is the Democrat bill doesn't cover everybody. So why are they trying to takeover 1/6 of the economy in such a hurry? I think it's because they are power hungry and this will feed the Democrats need for more govt power in their progressive agenda.

John Stossel Gives A Great View Of Health Care
John Stossel: Insurance Makes Healthcare Far More Expensive

I love the way Stossel shows what a partisan stooge Moore is. I was at the book store today and they had his books for $2 and they had tons of them. We can't afford to spend $1.4 trillion on anything else right now. We need to cut costs and have a reform that wont bankrupt our country. These Democrats are out of control with their spending. How large must we get for them to listen to our needs?Make them listen by writing letters, telling everyone you can what a mistake this bill is and take it to the streets. Get your friends to go to a protest. And let the blogs and posts know when and where the protests are.
John Stossel questions Michael Moore on Cuban Health CareMonstrous and a defiance of the will of the American people - that's how one pro-family group is describing the health bill that House Democrats pushed through Saturday night by a vote of 220 to 215.
The President of Concerned Women for America, Wendy Wright, says the bill will ration care and punish citizens who don't have government-mandated insurance.
Wright declares "this montrous bill" will erode the best health care system in the world.
According to Wright, "In exchange for insurance, we'll lose access to proper health care. We'll lose health care providers who will leave the profession."
She says the bill would "create multiple bureaucracies that will control Americans' health care, penalize Americans for not buying a product, fine Americans if a government agent decides their health care plan is not 'government approved' and may force Americans to buy government mandated insurance that funds objectionable procedures."
Wright notes that although an amendment passed to bar federal funding of abortion, Democrat leaders refused to guarantee that it will be in the final bill. According to Wright, "the vote on the amendment may have been a ruse to gain pro-life Democrats vote on the bill."
Meanwhile, House Republican leader, John Boehner, also issued a statement condemning the bill.
He said "Americans want a common-sense approach to health care reform, not Speaker Nancy Pelosi's 2,032-page government takeover that increases costs, adds to our skyrocketing debt, destroys jobs with tax hikes and new mandates, and cuts seniors' Medicare benefits."
Boehner noted that Republicans have offered an alternative health care reform package which offers lower costs and expands access to quality care-without adding to the "crushing debt Washington has placed on our children and grandchildren."

Michelle Bachmann Blasts The New Health Care Reform Bill
Michelle Bachmann was interviewed by Hannity and said, the “Government Option” as a “funnel that’ll eventually suck everybody into it”.
Bachmann says the bill will “…collapse private insurance so that everyone will fold into a single-payer government system…”
I think of it more as a black hole who’s immense gravity will warp the very space around it, pulling people out of their orbits and sucking them into the doom that is Barney Frank, Pelosi, and the left’s concept of health care with only one choice in America; one run by a corrupt, inept group of leftist Democrats.
