Obamacare and Romneycare Are The Same According To Obama

The Hill: Having Obama himself now tout ObamaCare as the twin to RomneyCare is going to make things very difficult for Mitt.
The Hill: President Obama tied his own healthcare reform law to Romneycare today, a growing theme that isn't helping the former Massachusetts Governor in his early positioning for 2012.
"I think that the Republican Party made a calculated decision, a political decision, that they would not support whatever we did," Obama told Matt Lauer in an interview. "And I think that's unfortunate because when you actually look at the bill itself, it incorporates all sorts of Republican ideas. I mean, a lot of commentators have said, you know, this is sort of similar to the bill that Mitt Romney passed in Massachusetts."
For some reason they think two wrongs make a right. For Obama to say that RomneyCare is just like his ObumaCare is as dumb as you can get. RomneyCare is broke and that is what America will be after this bill starts eating away at our economy. I'm just shaking my head over this stupid bill.

  1. I don't know who is more of an idiot; Romney for denying that it is not anything like ObamaCare, or Obama for tauting how alike they are, when RomneyCare is an EPIC FAIL.

Romney's contention that it is a state program and not a failure foisted on the entire US is the only sane argument he has made. These decisions should be left up to the individual states (minus, of course, inter-state shopping) so individual states can come up with various solutions, good and bad. When states become the labs, they can figure out what works and other states can follow suit. RomneyCare is a huge failure in terms of keeping costs down, rationing and decreasing quality. And that is exactly what ObamaCare will give to us as well. Romney would have been well-advised to admit what a failure it is, and maybe place some of the blame on the ones who wrote the actual legislation, aka the State's legislators!

  2. Joe -

I thought you might find this interesting, as it touches on anarchists:

  3. John your first post is spot on brother. This obamacare puts more burdon on the states. The states will have to raise taxes on everyone again. And the extra taxes they get from business will just be passed on to the consumers. That is us not just the rich. We need to start seeing stability for businesses to survive and thrive in America. The jobs creaters are the businesses and this Congress and President are going after them like they are the Maffia. The Democrats have made indentured servants of a wealthy minority for it's constituents benifit alone. Do ya think the wealthy minority don't have the means to leave and then we are all screwed? I thought America wanted the rich entrapaneuers to do business in this country. We want them to spend their money here. While conservatives want the American dream that everyone has a shot of getting rich thus helping us all out. Vs the Democrats that want to plunder from the rich and give it to people and organizations that support the Democratic Party.

  4. John, the problem is that Mitt has taken credit for the Mass healthcare passage, saying it was his "idea". That he worked with the legislature to make mandates happen.

    So Rommney is stuck.

  5. Chris - Absolutely there is now a huge burden on the states. In fact, I just heard on the radio that Jenny from the Block is creating some new regulatory agencies and insurance-handling agencies of some sort. More bureaucracy, funded by more taxes, and this is just the beginning! LOL ... I'm laughing to keep from crying.

Good point Joe. I can't say I was a big fan of Romney anyway, so Obama pointing out how alike these plans are, and allowing us a little glimpse into the future, might be the best thing.

  7. Anon,
i think he's a decent guy with some interesting ideas. I like his overall approach to abortion, infant mortality and feeding all the children.

he even criticized his own party for failing to take all of it into account. I was impressed with him as a person.
