What Would The Left Wing Progressives Say About The Post Office Bankruptcy

The reason the government run postal service isn't working is because of UPS and the other private sector mail services. While the UPS's get to pick and choose their customers the government post offices don't get that choice. Well how would the Progressives fix this problem of compatition in the field of mail? The government must have some social and economic justice. They need to tax the UPS's in this country or take them over like they want to do with the health insurance industry. The government  can't compeat with the private sector so they must take it over. The US postal service is too big to fail, And all those government employees can't be out of work because the government can't compeat with the private sector. The only long term selution to the postal service going bankrupt is to make email harder to to or tax it. Tax the private sector mail services so that it is more expensive to use them thus saving government union jobs. Or the government can just nationalize all email and mail service. A one payer system for all mail services. The postal service can't keep raising it's rates because that is what got them into this problem in the first place. And in the eyes of the Progressives the postal SERVICE isn't to serve the customers. It's there to serve the unions now. And you don't want to tell those unions that they have bleed their host(taxpayers) dry. We must get the workers of the world to unite in all facets of the economy. That is the only way to make sure that we have a social justice and a social economy. An economy dictated by the workers(unions) and the government.  Now I know a lot of you right wing conservatives will point out the fact that this has never worked before. But that is because they didn't know all that we know. We can make John Lennons song Imagine a reality.

Well my Progressive friends, I say if you want that kind of utopia then you need to lead us. Show us how it works one person at a time. Start with the man in the mirror. If you want social justice and economic justice then start by giving away all YOUR excesses. Lead by example not by big government. Show us "stupid conservatives" how it is done. When you live the life you want us all to live then maybe we will follow. Put your theories to use in your own home first and then we might follow.                                                                                                                                                   And is there one example you progressives can give were the government has lowered cost or done a better job then the private sector? Education,waste removal,postal service,medacare,SSI... You must be able to have one in all the history of the world that proves your theory that government is better. And before you go off and say that I'm for no government or anarchy don';t go there. I'm for LIMITED government. I'm for what our founding fathers were for. Just like I know that most liberals aren't for total governemnt take overs. But what on earth makes you think that left of center is better then right of center? What do you base your theories on? I base mine on 234 years of American capitalist history. It's not a perfect system but it's the best we have. When you on the left have  proof that your theory of social justice working let us know. Just because you thought of it and it sounds good doesn't mean it will or ever has worked. The experament has been tryed many times in world history and it has failed every time. I'm not willing to let you try it again with the greatest richest country that has ever existed.

Grace-Marie Turner on President Obama's Health Care Summit

A healthcare reform expert warns that the healthcare legislation Democrats are pushing will be a major expansion of a welfare program that is already being administered poorly.

Congressman Peter Roskam (R-Illinois) last week pointed out that over half of the health insurance expansion obtained by Americans through the Democrats' health bill is accomplished by putting them on Medicaid.

Grace-Marie Turner, president of the Galen Institute, served for a year and a half on a commission that studied Medicaid. She feels that in many states, Medicaid has become the "ghetto of our healthcare system," and adds that far too often, people are promised access to care but cannot find a doctor or dentist to see them because the program pays so little.

"How dare we think of putting another 15 million of the 30 million that would allegedly be covered through this bill, expanding Medicaid, on a program that already is having a hard time serving the people who are on the program," Turner contends.  "The other 15 million that would get coverage would be in these government-required policies that would be hugely expensive.  And many of them will be required to pay for some -- or in many cases, a large portion of -- their health coverage."

One of President Obama's economic advisers, Warren Buffet, suggested yesterday that Congress should scrap the current healthcare bill and start over with the main goal of addressing rising healthcare costs.

Obama Might Try And Go To The Center For Health Care Reform

It might be too late as many Americans have already given up on this Congress. Is Obama doing the right thing? Is he doing enough to show Americans he wants to do what is best for them? And can we afford this health care reform if it is still $1 trillion?

President Barack Obama said Tuesday he was open to four new Republican proposals on health care legislation, a gesture of bipartisanship meant to jump-start his stalled drive to overhaul the system.

Obama detailed the ideas, all of which were raised at a bipartisan health care summit last week, in a letter to congressional leaders. In a nod to his 2008 presidential rival, Obama also said he had eliminated a special deal for Medicare Advantage beneficiaries in Florida and other states that drew criticism at the summit from Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz.
The proposals Obama listed are: sending investigators disguised as patients to uncover fraud and waste, expanding medical malpractice reform pilot programs, increasing payments to Medicaid providers and expanding the use of health savings accounts.
"I said throughout this process that I'd continue to draw on the best ideas from both parties, and I'm open to these proposals in that spirit," wrote Obama, who will make remarks Wednesday at the White House on a path forward for his legislation.
He rejected the GOP's preferred approach of scrapping the existing sweeping overhaul bills and starting afresh with step-by-step changes.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., said Obama's letter "brings us just another step closer to passing the bill."
"We hope to incorporate some of the suggestions," she said.
Obama's announcement did not appear to win over any Republicans, who complained the underlying legislation remained fatally flawed, and the Senate GOP leader warned of reprisals in this fall's midterms elections if the Democrats go forward. But it could give wavering Democrats political cover by showing the White House has been willing to compromise in the wake of last week's summit.
"We're anxious to get health care done, which we will get done," Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., said after Obama released the letter. Democrats proceed at their own political peril, said Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky.
"I want to assure our Democratic friends that if they are somehow able to pass this bill in the House, it will be the issue in every race in America," McConnell said.
At its core the Democrats' legislation would extend coverage to 30 million uninsured Americans over 10 years with a first-time mandate for nearly everyone to buy insurance and a host of new requirements on insurers and employers. However, the package soon to reach the House will be less expensive than the one the House passed in November and will contain no government-run insurance program to compete with private insurers, making it more appealing to some moderates.
Democrats are eyeing a controversial procedure known as "budget reconciliation" to get the legislation to Obama. Under this process, the House would pass the Senate-passed overhaul bill, and both chambers would pass a package of changes to the legislation designed to appeal to House Democrats. The changes — they could include Obama's suggested Republican ideas — could pass under budget rules allowing a simple majority vote in the Senate. It's Democrats' only way forward because Republicans control 41 Senate votes, just enough block the 60-vote supermajority usually required for action.
But the approach infuriates Republicans, even though they've used it in the past, and makes some Democratic moderates uneasy. White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel defended the tactic after emerging from a meeting at the Capitol with Reid and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif.
"Reconciliation is a vehicle that's been used many times," Emanuel said. "This is a normal procedure, nothing different out of it."
Obama said he was open to these four GOP ideas:
—Conducting undercover investigations of Medicare and Medicaid providers to search for waste, fraud and abuse, an idea put forth by Sen. Tom Coburn, R-Okla., at least week's summit.
— Experimenting with specialized health courts as an alternative to jury trials in medical malpractice cases to cut down on defensive medicine. That idea has been promoted both by Democrats and Republicans, including Coburn and Sen. Mike Enzi, R-Wyo., who attended the summit.
The approach calls for an expert judge — not a jury — to hear the evidence and make a final determination in cases where a patient has suffered harm. Trial lawyers are strongly opposed to the concept.
Months ago, Obama budgeted $23 million for states to experiment with alternatives to malpractice litigation, but at the time he stopped short of endorsing health courts. The president now says he wants to more than double the budget for state experiments to $50 million.
—Obama also agreed that health savings accounts would be offered in new markets his plan sets up for individuals and small business to purchase coverage. Sen. John Barrasso, R-Wyo., brought up the idea at the summit.
The president said he's open to the tax-sheltered accounts, which go hand-in-hand with high-deductible health insurance policies. Premiums on those policies are lower than for regular health insurance, and people who have them use the health savings accounts to pay their out-of-pockets costs.
—Obama also suggested increasing reimbursements to Medicaid providers, a concern raised by Sen. Charles Grassley, R-Iowa.
"That's just one thing," Coburn said of the president's desire to incorporate his proposal. "We need to start over," Coburn said, contending the bill doesn't address underlying issues of health care costs and quality.
Grassley said Obama's willingness to include his idea didn't change his opposition to the overall legislation. "There are other things more important," like its lack of caps on liability damages and its inclusion of an individual mandate, he said.
Democrats argue that the GOP calls to scrap the existing legislation and start anew further their argument that Republicans have been unreasonably opposed to almost any compromise, justifying the White House decision to push for passage with no GOP help at all.
Sen. Bill Nelson, D-Fla., said he hadn't seen Obama's proposal to eliminate the provision he championed to let about 800,000 Florida seniors enrolled in Medicare Advantage plans keep their extra benefits. But, Nelson said, "I do not think it should be removed."

Democrats Aren't Following Pay-Go Legislation

The left is completely flipping out [see Memeorandum] over Senator Jim Bunning (R-KY) holding up an emergency 30 day extension of unemployment benefits.  Why is Bunning holding up “the process”? Simple, he is trying to make the Democrats keep to their Pay-Go legislation.  Bunning wants the Democrats to use unspent money from the stimulus to pay for the extension. When will the Democrats say what they mean and mean what they say? All Sen.Bunning is doing is holding the Democrats to their word. He isn't holding up unemployment benefits extentions. He is just telling Congress to find the money. John is right when he calls them Hypocrats. Congress is out of control and Sen.Bunning is putting them back in their place. I'm getting sick of Congress acting like they are above the laws they write.

Is Obama Putting The President At Risk With His Drinking and Smoking?

Much is being said today about the doctors’ recommendations from Obama’s physical. All the talk centers on a little line in the UK Guardian:

The doctors also recommended "moderation of alcohol intake"                                                                    Is Obama taking risk with his health by his drinking and smoking? As the President of the USA should he be taking such risks with his life and the presidency? If Obama is only drinking in moderation that is fine. But the smoking is way too risky. It is his body to do with what he chooses. But he is also the President and should respect that possition enough to try and quite smoking and drinking so much. He wants the best health care in the world but then he goes out and does these things. We know he things civil employees should get the best health care money and the tax payers can buy. But is he just talking out his butt when he turns around and drinks and smokes? Is that why he thinks that no one can take care of themselves? Because he can't.

Democrats must sacrifice their jobs to get Obamacare through

Nancy Pelosi is calling for the Democrats to risk their jobs to get Obamacare passed. That must mean she doesn't have the votes to get Obamacare passed. Thank God for the Blue Dog Democrats. They aren't buying what the Progressive Democrats are trying to sell. Most Democrats know that this Obamacare if it is jammed through Congress will end the Democratic Parties chances of getting elected for the next decade or so. But somehow the Democrats will find a way to blame the Republicans for their inability to give us a comprehensive health care reform. Who want to spend $2 tillion to save $100 million in deficit? That aint too bright if you ask me. And the half baked story about Obamacare creating millions of jobs is just rediculus. These politicians are 90% BS and 10% truth. We want health care reform just not the reform the Democrats are pushing. It is a 2,700 page pork and payoff bill. It is about control over 1/6th of our economy. It is about the socializing of America. It is about the killing of capitalism and all that made this country great.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi urged her colleagues to back a major overhaul of U.S. health care even if it threatens their political careers, a call to arms that underscores the issue's massive role in this election year.

Lawmakers sometimes must enact policies that, even if unpopular at the moment, will help the public, Pelosi said in an interview being broadcast Sunday the ABC News program "This Week."

"We're not here just to self-perpetuate our service in Congress," she said. "We're here to do the job for the American people."

It took courage for Congress to pass Social Security and Medicare, which eventually became highly popular, she said, "and many of the same forces that were at work decades ago are at work again against this bill."               

Rachel Maddow has come around…but will the left keep buying Obama's BS?

Obama is full of crap and so are the left wing hypocrites that protested Bush when he kept the Patriot Act. I haven't seen much of this story on the left wing blogs or other media. When will the left realize that they got all the bad parts of Bush and a whole host of his own inablities. But for some reason I think the left will give him a pass. They will come out with a wisper of a protest but nothing like they did for the Republicans. Well for the right this is just more ammo for the fact that Obama is nothing more then a big fat liar. I know the left hate it when I call him a liar. But they never disprove the fact that Obama is a liar. He is a blame placing liar. The "it's all Bush's fault" thing is soooooooo old. And Obama's speech is more BS then I've heard in one speech. But the left stay quite while Obama lies to them as well as us. Now Obama has 2 wars that are his,an extention of Patriot Act,he hasn't closed GITMO and it doesn't look like he is going to and the debt that the left and right alike bitched about is climbing higher under the Democrats in Congress and Obama. But they wont say anything against Obama. Why would they stand behind what they believe in? That is why the left wing are worth nothing to this country.  WASHINGTON – President Barack Obama has signed a one-year extension of several provisions in the nation's main counterterrorism law, the Patriot Act.
Provisions in the measure would have expired on Sunday without Obama's signature Saturday.
The act, which was adopted in the weeks after the Sept. 11, 2001 terror attacks, expands the government's ability to monitor Americans in the name of national security.
Three sections of the Patriot Act that stay in force will:
_Authorize court-approved roving wiretaps that permit surveillance on multiple phones.
_Allow court-approved seizure of records and property in anti-terrorism operations.
_Permit surveillance against a so-called lone wolf, a non-U.S. citizen engaged in terrorism who may not be part of a recognized terrorist group.
Obama's signature comes after the House voted 315 to 97 Thursday to extend the measure.
The Senate also approved the measure, with privacy protections cast aside when Senate Democrats lacked the necessary 60-vote supermajority to pass them. Thrown away were restrictions and greater scrutiny on the government's authority to spy on Americans and seize their records.
