“House progressives argue that the document should light a fire under Dem leaders. One House progressive tells me he’s convinced that most of the undecideds, and a number of the No votes, can be won over with the right mix of pressure and incentives — which only the House leadership and the White House can provide.”Plumline quotes the spokesperson for James Clyburn, the House Majority Whip: “Kristie Greco would only say: ‘We currently do not have the votes for a robust public option.’”
“Only leadership and the White House can get this done,” this progressive says.
“Is this news to you that this guy’s one fry short of a Happy Meal?” asked Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-N.Y.)
House Majority Leader Steny H. Hoyer defended Robertson, whom he said he knows.
“I think it’s inappropriate and unfair,” the Maryland Democrat said. He decried the “heated rhetoric” that he said interferes with the ability solve problems.
Democrat Dina Titus of Nevada called Grayson’s remarks “a bit extreme and rather sexist.”Indeed. Read the whole thing, which also addresses Grayson’s improper promotion of a website on the House floor that had links to his campaign fundraising site. Floridians must be so proud of a Democrat who embarrasses even Democrats from New York City and Maryland.
Conservatives continue to outnumber moderates and liberals in the American populace in 2009, confirming a finding that Gallup first noted in June. Forty percent of Americans describe their political views as conservative, 36% as moderate, and 20% as liberal. This marks a shift from 2005 through 2008, when moderates were tied with conservatives as the most prevalent group.I hope the RNC, GOP, NRSC, NRCC, etc. are paying attention to this.

Jeffrey Jones of Gallup explained: “The dominant political focus for Obama in the third quarter was the push for health care reform, including his nationally televised address to Congress in early September.
“Obama hoped that Congress would vote on health care legislation before its August recess, but that goal was missed, and some members of Congress faced angry constituents at town hall meetings to discuss health care reform. Meanwhile, unemployment continued to climb near 10 per cent.”
Campaigning for Mr Corzine in Hackensack on Wednesday night, Mr Obama delivered a plea that almost seemed as much for himself as the local candidate: “I’m here today to urge you to cast aside the cynics and the sceptics, and prove to all Americans that leaders who do what’s right and who do what’s hard will be rewarded and not rejected.”Of course we’re skeptical. Corzine, a multi-millionaire (which most of us are NOT) who comes from the evil empire of Wall Street (which we are all supposed to hate), is in trouble and Obama appears willing to waste what little political capital he has left trying to save a man who represents all that he (Obama) has been telling us for two years is at the base of all that troubles America: greed and a shameless lust for power. Why shouldn’t we be skeptical of a mouthpiece hell bent on propping up the very same person we’re being told is at the root of all our collective evil?
Mr Corzine, a former Goldman Sachs executive and multi-millionaire, is currently running even in New Jersey, which is normally comfortably Democratic, while Mr Deeds is trailing badly in Virginia, a swing state that was key to Mr Obama’s 2008 victory.

Truther | 583 up, 248 down
Noun- One who rejects the accepted explanation of the events of 9/11. Truthers generally believe the U.S. government committed the acts of terrorism against itself. BYU professor Steven Jones is perhaps the most famous truther. get this def on a mug

A crazy person who believes the US government committed 9/11. Truthers get their inspiration from a moronic documentary called "Loose Change" which provides no facts whatsoever and has been thoroughly debunked. People who disagree with the truthers are repeatedly called government shills since truthers have no logical argument to counter the evidence. Truther: 9/11 was an inside job! get this def on a mug Sane person: Prove it. Truther: There was no plane at the Pentagon, only a missile! Sane person: There's dozens of witnesses and plane debris was found all over the place. Truther: ...Well the WTC was a controlled demolition! Sane person: Why did both buildings collapse from the point of impact then? Pretty crazy the explosives were in the exact spot the plane hit and didn't explode upon impact. Truther: ...You're just a government shill! Enjoy your FEMA camp when the NWO rolls around! truther troofer crazy moron idiot kook tin foil hat nut job insane inside job 9/11 loose change september be nuts Jan 29, 2008 share this
3. | Truther | 145 up, 76 down |
Currently the term "Truther" refers to someone who adheres to the beliefs espoused by the 9/11 Truth movement. Truthers are conspiracy theorists that, like all conspiracy theorists, blatantly distort facts and quotes. These are the Bible thumpers of 9/11. Some of them believe that the government orchestrated it in some complex, cockamamie scheme; others believe that the government simply let it happen. Debating a Truther is like banging your head against a brick wall - painful and futile. You are likely to be called many things by them: ignorant, stupid, sheltered, blind, scared of the truth, a sheep, a lemming. get this def on a mug |
