Rep. Raul Grijalva (D-Ariz.), co-chairman of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, called on President Barack Obama to fight a new law signed Friday in Arizona that gives police power to request ID from suspected illegal immigrants. Grijalva, speaking at a rally Sunday at the Arizona state Capitol, asked Obama to not cooperate with the law, according to the Associated Press.
"We're going to overturn this unjust and racist law, and then we're going to overturn the power structure that created this unjust, racist law," Grijalva said.
Nearly a week ago, Grijalva and Reps. Luis Gutierrez (D-Ill.) asked Obama to shun the law. On Friday, hours before Gov. Jan Brewer signed the bill into law, Obama criticized it. "The recent efforts in Arizona ... threaten to undermine basic notions of fairness that we cherish as Americans as well as the trust in police and their communities that are so crucial to keeping us safe," Obama said.
"Our message today is: 'Mr. President we listened, and we came out in record massive numbers to support you,'" said Gutierrez at the rally. "We need you to support us today." Grijalva, who has previously called for an economic boycott of Arizona over the bill. The controversial part of the bill text reads that law enforcement officials are required to "determine the immigration status of a person during any legitimate contact made by an official or agency of the state ... if reasonable suspicion exists that the person is an alien who is unlawfully present in the U.S." If Obama does what Grijalva wants by not following the law then they need to be brought up on charges just like every citizen of the USA. If Obama breaks the law then he needs to pay the price. It is high time that the Democrats learn that we are a nation of laws not men. Nixon and Clinton learned it the hard way and I suspect that Obama will too but we will see. As Mark Adams pointed out 60% of Arizona's residents approve of the bill. So who the hell thinks they have the right to ignore this law?
The left wing media is at it again. They are saying that the Tea Party is nothing more then a fringe group at only 16%. Even Ed Rendell has come out calling the Tea Partiers a fringe group not worth worrying about. 16% is the magic number for liberals and the media. But what I have a hard time understanding is that liberals only make up 20% of Americans and they are calling us Tea Partiers,mind you 40% of Americans are conservative, a fringe group? Is 4% all it takes to become main stream in the liberal world? The good thing is as Tea Partiers keep growing,liberals are shrinking in numbers.
TNEW YORK -- The Rev. Al Sharpton says he's ready to travel to Arizona and march in the streets to protest the state's new immigration law.
Sharpton joined Lillian Rodriguez Lopez from the Hispanic Federation in New York City on Sunday to speak out against the law. They say activists are prepared to commit civil disobedience to fight it.
ArizonaGov. Jan Brewersigned the bill Friday. It requires police to question people about their immigration status - including asking for identification - if they suspect someone is in the country illegally.
The law will take effect in late July or early August.
PresidentBarack Obamahas called the new law "misguided" and has instructed the Justice Department to examine it to see if it's legal. You don't think that Al Sharpton is going to add fuel to the flames do you? Let's take a close look at what happens in Arizona. We need to pray that the left stop the violence and protest peacefully like the Tea Partiers have always done. It also makes me wonder why the Democrats are pushing for a hot button issue like immagration reform when the country just took on more devisive issues then in any time in my life? Are the Democrats pushing for more crisis? They have been warning us about the coming violence from the right. Do they need that violence in order to govern us even harder? It sure does seem like the Democrats want more crisis in this country. Stability isn't what they are working for but caos.
We all know how the left have been saying that it is the right that is violent. The media keeps saying that we are going to come unhinged. In the same amount of time as the Tea Parties have been rallying,without even one episode of violence,the left have had numerous riots. I think we all need to understand why the left blame us for what the left do as a norm for them? Where is that peace and love? I see bottles and riot gear but no love or peace. It's time the left start following the same code of conduct they expect of us. I'm not saying that all left wingers are violent,but damn if they aren't out of control on too many occasions. And Obama didn't help in his inflamming things. If our president has a problem with federal law then he better change it and obey our laws. Obama needs to think about the way he says things. And the media needs to start calling it ILLEGAL immigration as that is what this is about. America is strengthened by our legal immigration methods. Immigrant are a big part of what makes America great. But we have laws in this country and illegal immigrant are not above the law.

It looks like the states don't have the same amount of power they had beforee Obama and Congress took over. It is obvious that Obama and the Democratic Socialist Party want to do away with the democratic republic and go right to a democracy where the federal government rules over the states. We need to get back to a democratic republic where states have the rights to govern themselves instead of putting the federal government in charge of us. We need to remember the history of this nation and why the fed came into existence. It was the states that gave life to the fed.
sAsociated Press: [...] Economic experts at theHealth and Human Services Department concluded in a report issued Thursday that the health care remake will achieve Obama's aim ofexpanding health insurance— adding 34 million to the coverage rolls.
But the analysis also found that the law falls short of the president's twin goal of controlling runaway costs, raising projected spending by about 1 percent over 10 years. That increase could get bigger, since Medicare cuts in the law may be unrealistic and unsustainable, the report warned.[…]
In particular, concerns about Medicare could become a major political liability in themidterm elections. The report projected that Medicare cuts could drive about 15 percent of hospitals and other institutional providers into the red, "possibly jeopardizing access" to care for seniors.[…]
The report acknowledged that some of the cost-control measures in the bill — Medicare cuts, a tax on high-cost insurance and a commission to seek ongoing Medicare savings — could help reduce the rate of cost increases beyond 2020. But it held out little hope for progress in the first decade.
"During 2010-2019, however, these effects would be outweighed by the increased costs associated with the expansions ofhealth insurance coverage," wrote Richard S. Foster, Medicare's chief actuary. "Also, the longer-term viability of the Medicare ... reductions is doubtful." Foster's office is responsible for long-range costs estimates.[…]
In addition to flagging provider cuts as potentially unsustainable, the report projected that reductions in payments to private Medicare Advantage plans would trigger an exodus from the popular alternative. Enrollment would plummet by about 50 percent. Seniors leaving the private plans would still have health insurance under traditional Medicare, but many might face higher out-of-pocket costs.
In another flashing yellow light, the report warned that a new voluntarylong-term care insurance program created under the law faces "a very serious risk" of insolvency. We told you so. Now we have a health care/student loan takeover bill into effect that doesn't control or cut costs like they said it would. This is the kind of stupid crap we get when the Democrats put their heads together and cost us our future. Where are the JOBS stupid??? That goes for Obama and Congress. Since Obama and the Democratic Socialist party took over nothing has worked the way they said it would. And yet the Republicans and Conservatives have called it right every time. Heck Obama is following Bush to the T with Gitmo,the wars,spending+++,partisanship and the way the world views us.
