Democrats Keep Spending And Then Blame The Republicans. BWAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHA. What a bunch of buffoons

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama's proposed budget predicts the national deficit will crest at a record-breaking $1.6 trillion in the current fiscal year, then start to recede in 2011 to $1.3 trillion, a congressional official said Sunday.
Still, the administration's new budget to be released Monday says deficits over the next decade will average 4.5 percent of the size of the economy, a level which economists say is dangerously high if not addressed, said the congressional official. The official was not authorized to discuss the budget before its public release.
Details of the administration's budget headed for Congress include an additional $100 billion to attack painfully high unemployment. The proposed $3.8 trillion budget would provide billions more to pull the country out of the Great Recession while increasing taxes on the wealthy and imposing a spending freeze on many government programs.
White House spokesman Robert Gibbs said the administration believed "somewhere in the $100 billion range" would be the appropriate amount for a new jobs measure made up of a business tax credit to encourage hiring, increased infrastructure spending and money from the government's bailout fund to get banks to increase loans to struggling small businesses.
That price tag would be below a $174 billion bill passed by the House in December but higher than an $83 billion proposal that surfaced last week in the Senate.
Gibbs said it was important for Democrats and Republicans to put aside their differences to pass a bill that addresses jobs, the country's No. 1 concern. "I think that would be a powerful signal to send to the American people," Gibbs said in an appearance on CNN's "State of the Union."
Job creation was a key theme of the budget President Barack Obama was sending Congress on Monday, a document designed, as was the president's State of the Union address, to reframe his young presidency after a protracted battle over health care damaged his standing in public opinion polls and contributed to a series of Democratic election defeats.
Obama's $3.8 trillion spending plan for the 2011 budget year that begins Oct. 1 attempts to navigate between the opposing goals of pulling the country out of a deep recession and dealing with a budget deficit that soared to an all-time high of $1.42 trillion last year.
The Congressional Budget Office is forecasting that the deficit for the current budget year will be only slightly lower, $1.35 trillion, and the flood of red ink will remain massive for years to come, raising worries among voters and the foreign investors who buy much of the country's debt.
On the anti-recession front, congressional sources said Obama's new budget will propose extending the popular Making Work Pay middle-class tax breaks of $400 per individual and $800 per couple through 2011. They were due to expire after this year.
The budget will also propose $250 payments to Social Security recipients to bolster their finances in a year when they are not receiving the normal cost-of-living boost to their benefit checks because of low inflation. Obama will also seek a $25 billion increase in payments to help recession-battered states.
Obama's new budget will set off months of debate in the Democratically controlled Congress, especially in an election year in which Republicans are hoping to use attacks against government overspending to gain seats. Obama has argued that he inherited a deficit of more than $1 trillion and was forced to increase spending to stabilize the financial system and combat the worst recession since the 1930s.
Obama's new budget was expected to repeat many of the themes of his first budget. But in a bow to worries over the soaring deficits, the administration is proposing a three-year freeze on spending for a wide swath of domestic government agencies. Military, veterans, homeland security and big benefit programs such as Social Security and Medicare would not feel the pinch.
The freeze would affect $447 billion in spending and is designed to save $250 billion over a decade. However, it would not fall equally on all domestic agencies. Some would see budget cuts to free up spending for programs the administration wants to expand such as education and civilian research efforts.
NASA's mission to return astronauts to the moon would be grounded with the space agency instead getting an additional $5.9 billion over five years to encourage private companies to build, launch and operate their own spacecraft for the benefit of NASA and others. NASA would pay the private companies to carry U.S. astronauts.
Obama's budget repeats his recommendations for an overhaul of the nation's health care system, the fight that dominated his first year in office. It proposes to get billions of dollars in savings from the Medicare program and again seeks increased taxes on the wealthy by limiting the benefits they receive from various tax deductions. Both ideas have met strong resistance in Congress.
Gibbs insisted Sunday that the president's push for health care was "still inside the 5-yard line," but Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell, also appearing on CNN, said the public was overwhelmingly against the bill and the administration should "put it on the shelf, go back and start over."
In addition to the freeze on discretionary nonsecurity spending, Obama is proposing to boost revenues by allowing the Bush administration tax cuts of 2001 and 2003 to expire at the end of this year for families making more than $250,000 annually. Tax relief for those less well-off would be extended.
The new Obama budget will also include a proposal to levy a fee on the country's biggest banks to raise an estimated $90 billion to recover losses from the government's $700 billion financial rescue fund. Those losses are expected to come not come from the bank bailouts but from the support extended to General Motors and Chrysler and insurance giant American International Group as well as help provided to homeowners struggling to avoid foreclosures.
Also on the deficit front, the president has endorsed a pay-as-you-go proposal that passed the Senate last week. It would require any new tax cuts or entitlement spending increases to be paid for, and he has promised to create a commission to recommend by year's end ways to trim the deficits. However, a legislatively mandated panel was rejected in a Senate vote last week. Republicans opposed establishing the panel because it might recommend tax increases to close the deficit.

  1. Deficit of Trust: Most Voters Don’t Believe President’s Assertions About Economy, Saturday, January 30, 2010

During his State-of-the-Union address Wednesday night, President Obama spoke about a deficit of trust between the American people and political leaders. New Rasmussen Reports polling on the president’s speech shows just how deep that trust deficit has become.

The president in the speech declared that his administration has cut taxes for 95% of Americans. He even chided Republicans for not applauding on that point. However, just 21% of voters nationwide believe that taxes have been cut for 95% of Americans. Most (53%) say it has not happened, and 26% are not sure. Other polling shows that nearly half the nation’s voters expect their own taxes to go up during the Obama years.

The president also asserted that “after two years of recession, the economy is growing again.” Just 35% of voters believe that statement is true, while 50% say it is false.

Obama claimed that steps taken by his team are responsible for putting two million people to work “who would otherwise be unemployed.” Just 27% of voters say that statement is true. Fifty-one percent (51%) say it's false.

It’s likely that the president recognized public opinion on these points and is beginning an effort to sway that opinion. Polling conducted in the nights following his speech indicate that enthusiasm for the president among Democrats has increased.

Other data shows that, among all voters, 45% believe people randomly selected from the phone book would do a better job than the current Congress. Only 36% disagree. Overall, only 12% say that Congress is doing a good or an excellent job.

On all the points raised in the president’s speech, there is a huge partisan divide. On the question of cutting taxes for 95% of Americans, hardly any Republicans or unaffiliated voters believe it's true. However, Democrats are evenly divided: 34% say the tax cuts have been delivered, 29% say they haven’t, and 38% are not sure.

Sixty-three percent (63%) of Democrats agree with the president’s statement that the economy is growing again. Seventy percent (70%) of Republicans and 60% of unaffiliated voters disagree.

As for the claim about two million jobs, 46% of Democrats say it’s true, while 77% of Republicans say it’s not. As for those not affiliated with either major party, 24% say it’s true, and 59% say it’s false.

Regarding another initiative detailed in the speech on Wednesday night, just nine percent (9%) of voters believe the president’s proposed freeze on discretionary spending will have a big impact on the deficit.

In the speech, Obama also proposed a college lending program that would give preferential repayment terms to government workers. That may be a tough sell at a time when most Americans already believe government workers are overpaid. Government workers are more bullish about both the economy and their own financial condition than private sector workers.

The tax issue is especially significant in a troubled economic time. (61%) of voters believe that tax cuts are good for the economy. As Scott Rasmussen noted in a Wall Street Journal column shortly after Obama was elected, the current president won the White House by campaigning like Ronald Reagan: “Down the campaign homestretch, Mr. Obama's tax-cutting promise became his clearest policy position.”

  2. Obama Sees Both Sides Now; A Commentary By Debra J. Saunders
    Saturday, January 30, 2010

It all looked so easy in August 2008, when Sen. Barack Obama spoke before the Democratic National Convention in Denver. The Democrats were going to win in November, storm Washington with their reforming ways, and because they were so much smarter than everyone else, they'd know how to get the American economy cooking. There was no doubt as the enthusiastic Invesco Field throng cheered and chanted, "Yes, we can."

    Well, never mind.

After the Democrats squeezed floor votes for unpopular health care legislation through the House and Senate, independent voters are turning on Obama, conservatives never warmed to him and the far-left base feels betrayed. It turns out that governing is a lot harder than lobbing mud and vitriol at the Bushies.

Perhaps that is why, after having won office, Obama can't stop.

The Democrats own the White House, the Senate and the House. If they want to, they can pass their own bill. But they can't. Obama can't make centrists in his own party vote for the final passage of a bill that their constituents vehemently oppose. That leaves him two choices: Pass a doable and more fiscally responsible bill -- yes, it will anger the base, but isn't that what Democrats used to argue George W. Bush should do? Or try to fob his own failure off on Republicans, while saying out of the other side of his mouth that he won't give up "on trying to change the tone of our politics."

Of course, Obama's big problem is that he cannot deliver more private sector jobs with a health care agenda that will discourage hiring, a global-warming plan that threatens to hobble industry and -- despite his too-modest spending "freeze" proposal -- huge deficits that have spooked the public.

His too-into-the-future spending "freeze" sounds nice. But do I believe? The president noted that Washington's annual deficit had exceeded $1 trillion before he entered office, because of "two wars, two tax cuts, and an expensive prescription drug program." So his remedy is continued runaway spending while fighting two wars, passing his own extra tax cuts and peddling an underfunded and overweening health care package? Where's the change?

Donning the mantle of reformer, Obama said he wanted to require that lobbyists disclose their contacts with his administration or Congress to erase the public's "deficit of trust." Why bother? Voters are angry about all the grease that changed hands out in the open.

The White House very publicly cut a deal with union leaders to exempt union and government workers from the Senate bill's 40-percent excise tax on employer-paid "Cadillac" health care plans. Then there were the very open giveaways handed to Sens. Ben Nelson, D-Neb., and Mary Landrieu, D-La. to win their support. Nebraska voters were so outraged that Nelson has since distanced himself from his own big-dollar bargain.

"I take my share of the blame for not explaining it more clearly to the American people," Obama said. "I know that with all the lobbying and horse-trading, the process left most Americans wondering, 'What's in it for me?' "

What's in it for me? Actually, it's Landrieu, Nelson and Big Labor who asked that question. Perhaps while they had their hands out, they also wondered if they dare be so brazen. And a little voice answered: "Yes, we can."

  3. Record deficit – and accomplishing nothing! Obama promised that passing his stimulus would keep unemployment under 8% while creating 3 million jobs – 90% in the private sector. Now he says he “saved” 2 million jobs and every one that he points to is in the public sector.

Truth is that when one counts those who have given up and who are forced to take part-time jobs the percentage is over 17% – and is only that low because the losses in the public sector are so low. I wish someone would tell us what the percentage is for unemployment in the private sector alone. It has to be over 30% with no repief in sight. Of course that executive from Cisco Industries could apply to work construction on the roads and bridges Obama is building I suppose. What a fraud that man is!

I didn’t watch the dog and pony state of the union speech. Why should anyone watch it. He never does what hes says anyway! Only 275 days until Novemebr 2. Hopefully the Reps can get organized now that corporations other than those that own the Obama media outlets can speak! If nothing else they can at least defend themselves from the lies coming from Washington.

  4. The only job focus of the Obama administration has been jobs in the public sector or union jobs. These are jobs that hire mostly “juiced” employees – those who have a political or familial connection. The administration has done nothing about private sector job creation since taking office, in spite of the fact that they told you the “stimulus” bill would keep unemployment from going over 8%.

Like it or not, Barack Obama is a far-left socialist ideologue who must wear down the private sector in order to advance his agenda. His socialist agenda can not thrive alongside a robust private sector. He must have Americans dependent upon the government in order for his agenda to pass. That won’t happen if the economy is bustling and the people are working.

That is exactly why this second “stimulus” bill, which the democrats are calling a “jobs bill”, won’t work. At best, it will make a small dent in the unemployment situation, which is exactly what the administration desires.

  5. Plus, he goes to the Rep caucus and asks the Reps to be a little more agreeable to his programs? I guess he wants them to help him destroy the country.

ObamaFraud is right! Can’t wait ’till November to start the next administration.

  6. You Republicans don't want to take responsibility for the mess you created when you helped elect the shrub.

How stupid was it to start two unnecessary wars and have a massive tax cut for the wealthy at the same time.

Talk about massive debt, why don't you put the blame where it belongs? Republicans never do that. They'd rather shift the blame and try to make the Democrats look like the fiscally irresponsible party. BS.

Republicans always talk about cutting spending, but never do it, unless you mean cutting services to the least among us. It's the Christian thing to do, you know.

  9. Herbert A. Sample - Associated Press Writer - HONOLULU – The Republican National Committee has adopted a rule that will prod GOP leaders to provide financial support to only those candidates who support the party's platform.

The resolution, enacted by voice vote with no opposition at the party's winter meeting here on Friday, is an alternative to a more stringent proposal that would have required GOP candidates to support 10 policy positions if they wanted party help.

That proposal, sponsored by Indiana RNC member James Bopp and backed by the RNC's more conservative members, was strongly opposed by party Chairman Michael Steele and a group of state party chairs.

The alternative, offered by RNC member Bill Crocker of Texas, does not contain a specific litmus test and thus grants party officials more flexibility in how to vet GOP candidates seeking party support.

It urges leaders of local, state and national Republican parties to "carefully screen" the voting record and positions of Republican candidates that want party backing, and determine whether they "wholeheartedly support the core principles and positions" of the party as laid out in its platform.

The platform is adopted every four years at the party's presidential nomination convention.

The new rule will not prevent support for moderate Republican candidates but will bar funding for those judged to be too far to the left, Crocker said.

"No more Scozzafavas, please. No more Specters, please. No more Chafees, please," Crocker said, referring to Dede Scozzafava, a GOP candidate for a U.S. House seat in New York whom conservatives opposed; U.S. Sen. Arlen Specter, who switched his party registration from Republican to Democrat last year, and former U.S. Sen. Lincoln Chafee of Rhode Island, a liberal Republican.

Crocker urged the party to "present candidates who will be attractive" to the people who, like those in the Tea Party movement, "are really dissatisfied with our political conduct over the past several years."

Bopp withdrew his proposal and supported the alternative, contending it will be more effective because party leaders will have to consider a broader range of issues than just those cited in his resolution.

His proposal would have barred financial help for GOP candidates who disagreed with three or more of 10 policy positions, including support for "market-based" health care reform and climate change policies, and opposition to gun control, government abortion funding and amnesty for illegal immigrants.

There appeared to be some disagreement over the practical effect of Crocker's resolution. Bopp said it requires party leaders to compare GOP candidate positions to the party platform. But Bob Tiernan, the GOP state chairman in Oregon, insisted it is not binding.

"There's nothing mandatory in it," Tiernan said.

  10. If you watched the State of the Union speech last week you saw the hypocrisy of Barack Obama laid out in plain view.

He chided those who are already campaigning while having run a perpetual campaign for the last year. He called on Republicans to participate in the process while having locked them out for a full year. He played the American people for fools, saying they were against Obamacare because he had not talked about it enough and therefore the poor, unwashed masses just didn’t understand it. And he vowed to freeze spending while proposing more boondoggle projects that’ll require the Federal Government to print more money to pay for them. And then he did what he does best: He blamed George W. Bush.

After that, he vowed to go full steam ahead with what he’s done for the past year. That’s a prescription for disaster for the American people.

You would think that the political system would do everything possible to protect, above all, the producers and savers of wealth. Yet they are attacked from all sides. Obama and company are sharpening their knives now for a big roundup on the cattle farm.

Like Bush and presidents before him—and Congresses before this one—they steal the world with paper money that costs them nothing, yet they transfer guilt and heap ever more taxes on the people. They love the words “tax cheats” and “illegal foreign bank accounts.”

Yes, the foxes are in charge of the hen house. The people are pacified with propaganda, bread and circus. Why swallow all this hypocrisy and insult? The answer is that the people don’t know, and they don’t know that they don’t know. They are fed pacifism in their churches and pablum in their schools and they never ask questions.

The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) now wants 1,000 new agents to enforce more tax collections.

How can a minority criminal element make perpetual war on the majority? The answer is that they have propaganda and they have the guns. And don’t forget they have the printing presses to spew out fiat.

Do you know that it is a crime to try to keep what you earn and save? Just try to hold onto what “Uncle Sam” claims you owe.

I cannot believe the downright ignorance of even the most “educated” people about the nature of fiat paper money and how governments enslave the whole world with their hoax.

Think now! The American people strive to get education, they work their entire lives as professionals or non-professionals and they never so much as ask a question about paper money and how it transfers their labor and wealth to the government.

They don’t know that when they go to a commercial bank to get a loan that the bank doesn’t loan them money that it has in its vaults. It just writes you a check. The bank “makes a loan” with non-substance that costs it nothing, requiring you to use real collateral.

You have to give up or risk something for nothing. This is slavery, even though it has a pretty face. Bankers don’t look and act like crooks in the community. In fact they don’t even know what they are doing. They never question the system.

Is Obama forcing an exodus? Yes, companies and individuals will go elsewhere. Watch!

Well known tax attorney Marshall Langer says Obama plans a value added tax (VAT) like Europe has. Once started it will get higher and higher. These humanoids never tire of hypocrisy. Can you believe it? Yes, I believe they will implement the VAT. This will be a tax on everybody.

When you read nonsense like the government has new debt of $1.7 trillion, just consider it default. Fiat implies default the day it is created. What is wrong with us?

Regardless of what we want to think there is no such thing as government debt. He who prints the money has no debt. Yes, everybody else owes debt, except the Federal Government with the printing presses.

They call it a financial crisis, but what it is is a new war on savers who have found that they are now too poor to retire. They may have decided that their pension-fund managers deserved to be jailed.

  11. Just in Case You are a Senior and Get a Check for $250...

Seniors may again receive an Economic Stimulus payment. This is a very exciting prospect.

    I'll explain it using the Q and A format . . .

    Q. What is an Economic Stimulus payment?
    A. It is money that the federal government will send to taxpayers.

    Q. Where will the government get this money?
    A. From taxpayers..

    Q. So the government is giving me back my own money?
    A. Only a smidgen..

    Q. What is the purpose of this payment?
    A. The plan is for you to use the money to purchase a high-definition TV set, thus stimulating the economy.

    Q. But isn't that stimulating the economy of Asia ?
    A. Shut up or you don't get your check.

Below is some helpful advice on how to best help the US economy by spending your stimulus check wisely:

    1. If you spend the stimulus money at Wal-Mart, your money will go to China.
    2. If you spend it on gasoline, your money will go to Saudi Arabia.
    3. If you purchase a computer, it will go to India.
    4. If you purchase fruit and vegetables, it will go to Mexico, Honduras or Guatemala.
    5. If you buy a car, it will go to Japan or Korea.
    6. If you purchase useless plastic stuff, it will go to Taiwan.
    7. If you pay off your credit cards, or buy stock, it will go to pay management bonuses and be hidden in offshore accounts.

Or, you can keep the money in America by:
    1. spending it at yard sales or flea markets, or
    2. going to baseball or football games, or
    3. hiring prostitutes, or
    4. buying cheap beer or
    5. getting tattoos.
** These are the only wholly-American-owned businesses still operating in the US .

    Conclusion . . .
The best way to stimulate the economy is to go to a ball game with a prostitute that you met at a yard sale and drink beer all day until you're drunk enough to go get tattooed.

  13. This is a great message about made in USA products versus made out of the country products. You will be very surprised!

Good idea . . . One light bulb at a time
    Worth considering….

Good idea . . . One light bulb at a time . . . A physics teacher in high school, once told the students that while one grasshopper on the railroad tracks wouldn't slow a train very much, a billion of them would.

With that thought in mind, read the following, obviously written by a good American. Check this out.

I can verify this because I was in Lowes the other day for some reason and just for the heck of it I was looking at the hose attachments. They were all made in China . The next day I was in Ace Hardware and just for the heck of it I checked the hose attachments there. They were made in USA ... Start looking.

In our current economic situation, every little thing we buy or do affects someone else - even their job. So, after reading this email, I think this lady is on the right track. Let's get behind her!

My grandson likes Hershey's candy. I noticed, though, that it is marked made in Mexico now. I do not buy it any more. My favorite toothpaste Colgate is made in Mexico now. I have switched to Crest. You have to read the labels on everything.

This past weekend I was at Kroger. (Can be true for any store.) I needed 60W light bulbs and Bounce dryer sheets. I was in the light bulb aisle, and right next to the GE brand I normally buy was an off brand labeled, "Everyday Value. "I picked up both types of bulbs and compared the stats. They were the same except for the price. The GE bulbs were more money than the Everyday Value brand but the thing that surprised me the most was the fact that GE was made in MEXICO and the Everyday Value brand was made in - get ready for this - the USA in a company in Cleveland, Ohio ..

So throw out the myth that you cannot find products you use every day that are made right here.

So on to another aisle - Bounce Dryer Sheets . . . Yep, you guessed it, Bounce cost more money and is made in Canada . The Everyday Value brand was less money and MADE IN THE USA! I did laundry yesterday and the dryer sheets performed just like the Bounce Free I have been using for years and at almost half the price!

My challenge to you is to start reading the labels when you shop for everyday things and see what you can find that is made in the USA - the job you save may be your own or your neighbors!

If you accept the challenge, pass this on to others in your address book so we can all start buying American, one light bulb at a time! Stop buying from overseas companies!
    (We should have awakened a decade or two ago . . . . . .)

Let's get with the program ... . . . Help our fellow Americans keep their jobs and create more jobs here in the USA.

  15. We find that the loss of employment has occurred entirely in the private sector, where employment fell from 115.4 million in 2007 to 109.5 million in 2009, a decline that took private employment back to its level at the end of the 1990s.

While private employment was collapsing, government payrolls have been increasing, ticking up slightly from 22.2 million in 2007 to 22.5 million in 2009, an increase of roughly 1.7 million above the 2000 level.

Monthly data for 2009 display this difference starkly. From December 2008 to December 2009, total employment fell from 135.1 million persons to 130.9 million, while government employment remained essentially constant at 22.5 million.

While taxpayers (and unemployed former taxpayers) no doubt were hoping that Washington would focus on economic growth, much of the Obama administration's "stimulus" spending was directed toward ensuring that state and local government workers don't lose their jobs, while the normal appropriations process has been increasing spending for practically every department and agency of government.

This situation bears an eerie resemblance to the employment situation during the Great Depression, when private nonfarm hours worked fell steeply from 1929 to 1932 and did not return to 1929 levels until 1941, while millions were added to government payrolls during the New Deal. In both cases, the possibility that government employment crowds out private employment, rather than stimulating it, should not be dismissed.

Keynesians like to suppose that whenever the government undertakes new spending to augment the ranks of its employees a multiplier effect will result, causing private economic activity and employment to follow the same upward course.

The jobs data tell a different story.

You dumbass, it comes from Big Insurance, Big Pharma, Trial Lawyers, Unions ... the dirtiest bunch out there, he's in the pockets of Big Corporations!!! Like that fundraiser Peters did with Charlie Rangel, another dirty Hypocrat. That's your boy FAILk, the dirtiest most corrupt, most partisan Gary Peters.

  19. John, so insurance, Big pharma, unions and trial lawyers are all the worst of the bunch? Hmmm. Makes me wonder whom is buying the incumbent conservative candidates this election season...

lets start with top 20 industry donators

    Candi Miller
    #1 Transportation unions
    #3 Building Trade Unions
    #7 Lawyers

    Thad McCotter's top 20
    #2 Insurance
    #7 Transportation Unions
    #8 Pharmaceuticals/Health Products
    #10 Building Trade Unions
    #14 Public Sector Unions
    #19 Industrial Unions

(wow 4 unions in the top 20 is he a Democrat?)

    Dave Camp's top 20 :)
    #1 Insurance
    #3 Pharmaceuticals/Health Products
    #6 Lawyers/Law Firms
    #7 Lobbyists
    #12 Casinos/Gambling

    Mike Rogers top 20
    #1 Pharmaceuticals/Health Products
    #3 Insurance

So your fellow conservatives don't met the standards you set for the Democrats? Hypocritical ain't it? yes, it is.

  20. BWAAAAHAHAHAHA ... once again JOEY, I say it's bullshit but YOU say the Republicans are doing it so it's fine for the Hypocrats, and while the Hypocrats are at it, they can cry about lobbyist money that they CAN'T refuse.

Shove it up your ass Joey, as I said time and again I can only worry about MY representatives, like the dirty corrupt GARY PETERS who has raised a HELL of a lot more than the Republicans, and he has done a MAJORITY of it through BRIBES. So once again, YOU are saying two wrongs make a right, and I AM SAYING that it is just plain WRONG.
