Fact Check On Obamas Lies

Associated Press smallWASHINGTON - President Barack Obama, who once considered government spending freezes a hatchet job, told Americans on Wednesday it's now part of his solution to the exploding deficit. He didn't explain what had changed. His State of the Union speech skipped over a variety of complex realities in laying out a "commonsense" call to action. A look at some of his claims and how they compare with the facts:

OBAMA: "Starting in 2011, we are prepared to freeze government spending for three years. Spending related to our national security, Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security will not be affected. But all other discretionary government programs will. Like any cash-strapped family, we will work within a budget to invest in what we need and sacrifice what we don't." BWAAAAAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHA.Everyone laughs at what a stupid statement Obama just made.

THE FACTS: The anticipated savings from this proposal would amount to less than one percent of the deficit -- and that's if the president can persuade Congress to go along. Obama is a convert to the cause of broad spending freezes. In the presidential campaign, he criticized Republican opponent John McCain for suggesting one. "The problem with a spending freeze is you're using a hatchet where you need a scalpel," he said a month before the election. Now, Obama wants domestic spending held steady in most areas where the government can control year to year costs. The proposal is similar to McCain's.
___

OBAMA: "I've called for a bipartisan fiscal commission, modeled on a proposal by Republican Judd Gregg and Democrat Kent Conrad. This can't be one of those Washington gimmicks that lets us pretend we solved a problem. The commission will have to provide a specific set of solutions by a certain deadline. Yesterday, the Senate blocked a bill that would have created this commission. So I will issue an executive order that will allow us to go forward, because I refuse to pass this problem on to another generation of Americans."

THE FACTS: Any commission that Obama creates would be a weak substitute for what he really wanted -- a commission created by Congress that could force lawmakers to consider unpopular remedies to reduce the debt, including curbing politically sensitive entitlements like Social Security and Medicare. That idea crashed in the Senate this week, defeated by equal numbers of Democrats and Republicans. Any commission set up by Obama alone would lack authority to force its recommendations before Congress, and would stand almost no chance of success.
___

OBAMA: The president issued a populist broadside against lobbyists, saying they have "outsized influence" over the government. He said his administration has "excluded lobbyists from policymaking jobs." He also said it's time to "require lobbyists to disclose each contact they make on behalf of a client with my administration or Congress" and "to put strict limits on the contributions that lobbyists give to candidates for federal office."

THE FACTS: Obama has limited the hiring of lobbyists for administration jobs, but the ban isn't absolute; seven waivers from the ban have been granted to White House officials alone. Getting lobbyists to report every contact they make with the federal government would be difficult at best; Congress would have to change the law, and that's unlikely to happen. And lobbyists already are subject to strict limits on political giving. Just like every other American, they're limited to giving $2,400 per election to federal candidates, with an overall ceiling of $115,500 every two years.
___

OBAMA: He called for action by the White House and Congress "to do our work openly, and to give our people the government they deserve."

THE FACTS: Obama skipped past a broken promise from his campaign -- to have the negotiations for healthcare legislation broadcast on C-SPAN "so that people can see who is making arguments on behalf of their constituents, and who are making arguments on behalf of the drug companies or the insurance companies." Instead, Democrats in the White House and Congress have conducted the usual private negotiations, making multibillion-dollar deals with hospitals, pharmaceutical companies, and other stakeholders behind closed doors. Nor has Obama lived up consistently to his pledge to ensure that legislation is posted online for five days before it's acted upon.

  3. Talk about lies. Here's one for you, that Republicans are the party of fiscal responibility.
Political pundits often call the Republican party the fiscally responsible party. However, as this post will prove, that's a lie, a big fat one.

Question 1: Which modern President added $4.9 trillion to the national debt?
If you guessed Carter or Clinton, you'd be wrong.

Correct Answer: George W. Bush (Republican)

Question 2: Which modern President turned a deficit into a surplus? George H.W. Bush? Wrong. It was Democrat, Bill Clinton.

Question 3: Which modern President nearly tripled the national debt? Jimmy Carter? Nope. Ronald Reagan

In fact, President Carter increased the national debt by 42%

Ronald Reagan increased the national debt 189%

    George H.W. Bush 55%

    Bill Clinton 36%

    George W. Bush 89%

So, the next time you hear pundits saying how Republicans are the party that does better handling the deficit and the nation's credit card, know that it's a lie, a big fat one.

  4. Bruce that is like calling you wife a whore for kissing a man while you go out ans sleepe with everyone you see. Obama has spent more then all combined. And Bruce blame Congress as much or more my friend. I was Newt and his Republican Congress that made Clinton look like a star. Read what the parts of government do and then you can place the blame right. What am I saying you are the same guy that blames the Republicans for not getting health care passed when the Democrats had a fillibuter proof supermajority. In fact the loser Democrats still have the largest majority seen in decades. The Republicans are the party of no but the Democrats are the party of shifting blame. Let me guess is that from Saul Lalinski rules for radical progressives?

  5. Chris, your analogy makes no sense.

The Republicans have no answers to any of America's real problems.

We never really had 60 Democrats, especially with Lieberman as one of the 60. We're still going to get health care done, without the Republicans.

  7. FAILk, CONGRESS controls the purse strings. When has a president ever written legislation and then enacted it without approval from Congress, and that INCLUDES budget?! ROFLMAO ... of course that is what you wish for in your dreams, a tyrant dictator, but it's NOT how the US works fool.

So a Republican Congress produced record surpluses for Clinton and a Hypocratic Congress put the treasury in the DUMPSTER in just a few short years. Way to go Hypocrats! BWAAAAAAHAHAHAHA ... I'd study up on the duties of the government branches before you start dragging your Hypocrat Congress through the gutter you idiot FAILk! Was that cyst surgery a lobotomy or what?!?! LOL

  8. Hey FAILk, you idiot Hypocrats have been doing a government takeover of healthcare all along without the Republicans and look at what a pathetic piece of shit legislation you idiot Hypocrats ended up with. A piece of legislation tailor-made without input from Republicans and it stinks so bad that you are begging Republicans to vote for it so you don't have to take all the blame! ROFLMAO ... PLEASE JAM IT THROUGH FAILk, and then I can't wait to hear the spin when all the Hypocrats are replaced this year and in 2012! LOL ... what the hell are you going to say, that giving up control of the House and Senate is proof that everybody loves your stinky legislation!?!? LOL

  9. Bruce I can say that the Democrats are infact the ones that have no answers to the problems either. Or the salutions would be law by now. The Republicans have been shut out of the game.
Even Obama said that he doesn't want to hear from the people he thinks caused the problem. They had a supermajority and now they don't. Don't lie and say the Republicans don't have solutions. They have brought it to the table and the Democrats have thrown it out. Go to the Republican web site and you can read the bills they wanted to put through. The Democrat bills have been way too liberal for the majority of Americans and that is why the Democrats have become divided between the Progressive Democrats and the Reagan Democrats. And the Reagan Democrats are listening to the people because they want to keep their jobs. The Progressive Democrats don't care about the Reagan Democrats and they don't care about the Republicans. They want what they want and they don't care who they hurt or lie to to get it. The Blue Dogs/Reagan Democrats have also tryed to make the health care bill and other bills more conservative but the Progressives bribe them or bully them like Obama did in his weak State Of The Union Address. Americans are getting used to the liberal lies and bullying.

  10. And Bruce I think yopu need to look at the speech again. Listen to the laughter. Were they laughing with the Progressives or at them? Were they laughing at the the Progressive global warming scam? Were they laughing with the Progessives when Obama said that the budget freeze wouldn't take effect until 2011? And when Obama said thats how a budget works did they keep laughing because he acted like he and Congress' hands are tied till then? Did Obama lie when he said that the Supreme Court decission let foriegn companies influence our govt with unlimited contributions? I also remember reading you saying that lie on your blog as well as mine. Do you still believe in that lie and are you still spreading it?
