For Once They Didn't Blame Bush

How Obama And Biden Fought The Surge

As we have often noted before (see the related articles links below), Messrs Obama and Biden fought our winning strategy in Iraq – tooth and nail.
A fact you would never guess from Mr. Obama’s remarks yesterday at Camp Lejeune.
But here is another gentle reminder about their prescience, via YouTube:

Obama’s Hypocrisy On Iraq Success

Remember, we were supposed to ignore Mr. Obama’s stunning lack of experience because he has such excellent “judgment.”
Well, he was wrong about the surge. And his choice of a Vice President was not too stellar either.
So when have we ever seen any evidence of this alleged sound judgment?
Joe-Biden_dumbestSay what? Yes, the dumbest Vice President and “one heartbeat away” from the Presidency of the United States appeared on Larry King Live last night claiming that Iraq
“could be one of the great achievements of this administration. You’re going to see 90,000 American troops come marching home by the end of the summer. You’re going to see a stable government in Iraq that is actually moving toward a representative government.”
Even more from ABC:

The vice president said he’d been to Iraq 17 times and visits the country every three months or so. “I know every one of the major players in all the segments of that society” he said. “It’s impressed me. I’ve been impressed how they have been deciding to use the political process rather than guns to settle their differences.”
At the briefing today, White House press secretary Robert Gibbs was asked about Biden calling Iraq one of the great potential achievements of the Obama administration given that Biden had previously advocated that the country should be divided into thirds and split among Kurds, Shiites, and Sunnis, and then-Sen. Obama opposing the surge of US troops that many experts argue helped bring stability that allowed the reconciliation process to continue.
In fact, in January 2007 then-Sen. Obama said that he was “not persuaded that 20,000 additional troops in Iraq is going to solve the sectarian violence. In fact, I think it will do the reverse.”
Gibbs said the achievement was “putting what was broken back together and getting our troops home, which we intend to do in August of this year.”
A reporter pointed out that the Status of Forces Agreement to bring troops home was signed before the president took office.
Gibbs called that agreement “something I think that the political pressure that the president, as a then-candidate, helped to bring about.”
The nation “will long debate Iraq,” Gibbs said. “We will long debate whether at a very important moment in our effort to root out terrorism, particularly in Afghanistan and in that border region with Pakistan, whether we took our eye off the ball. I think historians will debate that long after we are gone.” Gibbs suggested that by invading Iraq the US was “occupy(ing) a country that until we got there didn’t have a single member of Al Qaida,” and taking its eye off the ball.
Gibbs said that “the vice president’s been deeply involved in fixing the political process there so that elections can be held and so that our troops can come home as scheduled this summer.”                                                                                                                           Now while the left are bitching and moaning over the fact that some Republicans showed up to the ribbon cutting ceramonies for Stimulus based pojects. Obama and Joe Biden are taking creadit for winning in the Iraq war they said wouldn't work. And up until Obama became President he said he would pull out of Iraq  ASAP. Talk about hypocracy and just plain snakes. They take creadit for what Bush did and they fought tooth and nail against. We see how these political shisters are now and this is the lowest of the low. How can they go around acting like they did the good they didn't do and then blame all the bad they did on the group that didn't have the power to do what they accused them of doing? We have a president and VP without honor. Our military men and women are in big trouble knowing that these two men are in charge of their lives and wellbeing. This isn't a funny matter but it shows us the characture of the people that are in charge of this country. But the left wing kool-aid drinkers will be out in force protecting these dishonorable men while making a big deal about Republicans showing up for ribbon cutting ceramonies to civil projects that came from the taxpayers not the Democratic Party. I am ashamed to the max of Joe and 'H' and everyone should be. Pray for these men in charge of our country. They need it. Maybe if Obama went to Church more then 3 times last year he would know the difference between right and wrong, but that is another story.

It’s one thing for a buffoon like Joe Biden to claim it was give-up Obama who won victory in Iraq, but for White House spokesman Robert Gibbs to repeat it? Truly shameless.

Administration May Abandon Civilian 9/11 Trial
by THE ASSOCIATED PRESS February 12, 2010

    http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=123641904&ft=1&f=1001

AG Eric Holder is leaving open the possibility of trying Khalid Sheikh Mohammed before a military commission instead of the civilian trial originally planned for NYC.

"At the end of the day, wherever this case is tried, in whatever forum, what we have to ensure is that it's done as transparently as possible and with adherence to all the rules," Holder told The Washington Post in an interview published in Friday's editions. "If we do that, I'm not sure the location or even the forum is as important as what the world sees in that proceeding."

Opposition from NY officials has forced the Obama administration to reconsider plans to put Mohammed on trial in federal court in lower Manhattan, near where the World Trade Center was felled.

City and state officials and many congressional Republicans argue that the high-security trial would put New Yorkers at risk of further attacks, cost taxpayers hundreds of millions of dollars in security expenses and take a staggering toll on nearby businesses.

Holder still maintains that a civilian trial would be the best option for the case and "best for our overall fight against al-Qaida."

President Obama said in a CBS interview that he hasn't ruled out holding the trial in New York federal court but was taking into account the objections of Mayor Michael Bloomberg and the city's police.

  8. Obama is no different then Bush. What is pissing me off is the fact that there are no more protests against the wars. The Tea party is about spending and small government. Where is the anti war protests? I went to 3 anti war protest in Indiana and now I can't find one to save my life. We are getting angry and no one is hearing us. The Democrats are as big of warmongers as the Republicans. But at least the Republicans admit it.

  10. More Communism From 'H'12 February, 2010 12:05

Remember back when the left was freaking out about about the NSA terrorist surveillance program initiated by George Bush (in the wake of 9-11) whereby the NSA was authorized by executive order to monitor phone calls and other communications involving known or suspected terrorists (or their associates) coming into or going out of the United States without a warrant?

Among his many (unkept) promises, Obama posted this one on his own website page - “BarackObama.com”:

    Eliminate Warrantless Wiretaps.

Barack Obama opposed the Bush Administration’s initial policy on warrantless wiretaps because it crossed the line between protecting our national security and eroding the civil liberties of American citizens. As president, Obama would update the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act to provide greater oversight and accountability to the congressional intelligence committees to prevent future threats to the rule of law.

In 2007, the Bush administration asked Congress to grant the telecom companies immunity from the lawsuits being filed against the telecom companies and while the majority of Republicans supported the measure. In the meantime, MoveOn and other extreme left liberal bloggers threatened to wage war against both Hillary and Obama in order to pressure them into supporting Chris Dodd’s vow to filibuster any Senate FISA bill containing telecom immunity. Both caved to the wishes of their base and Obama spokesman, Bill Burton issued a statement to the liberal blog TPM Election Central:

“To be clear: Barack will support a filibuster of any bill that includes retroactive immunity for telecommunications companies.”

But after that amendment failed, Obama declined to filibuster the bill. In fact, against his promise to his liberal puppet-masters, he voted for it. Then, during his presidential campaign in July of 2009, Barack Obama back-peddled on his previous opposition of what the left called the NSA’s Domestic Spying Program (in spite of its actual title of FISA (Foreign Intelligence Surveillace Act), rather than DISA - Domestic Intelligence Surveillance Act) pledged that, if he were elected president, there would be “no more wiretapping of American citizens.”

Leaders on the left were so determined to prove to their base world they were committed to crushing this horrible breech of civil rights by George Bush they included the promise in their 10/8/2007 Democratic Agenda to:

Reimpose a strict ban on warrantless wiretapping of American citizens and block amnesty and immunity for telephone companies that illegally spied.

Well, now Obama is president and, as we have become accustomed, The One who vowed Americans would no longer be subjected to wiretapping is all for a program to track the location of American citizens by way of their cell phones. Tomorrow, the Third Circuit federal appeals court will hear oral arguments in a case that could establish new standards for locating wireless devices… and, therefore, the people who are holding them.

The Obama administration argues that, in this case, centered around drug trafficing (unlike an attempt to thwart terrorists from killing Americans), warrantless tracking is permitted because Americans enjoy no “reasonable expectation of privacy” in their–or at least their cell phones’–whereabouts. U.S. Department of Justice lawyers say that “a customer’s Fourth Amendment rights are not violated when the phone company reveals to the government its own records” that show where a mobile device placed and received calls.

Imagine that… Where liberals once screamed foul that George Bush ordered the monitoring of phone calls going in to and going out of the US from, or to, known or suspected terrorists and phone companies who participated in that measure should be tarred and feathered… that when Obama says Americans should have “no reasonable expectation of privacy” and it is decided their “Fourth Amendment rights are not vilolated when a phone company reveals to the government its own records” it is fine and dandy and is met with silence…

Lobbying $$ is up 5% last year, and looks like this year will be a boon for those KorruptoKrats as well. But I'm sure none of this lobbying money influenced the Hypocrat's bills at all. Nah. No way. They are soooo above board. BWAAAAHAHAHAHAHA ... only FAILk could keep a "straight face" saying that!

  17. Stop blaming Obama. This war thing pisses me off. We should never have stayed in this illegal war. If he raises taxes and adds to the Patriot Act on cell phones and Google I'll be on the front line against Obama for the 2012 election. I sent him a note saying so. If the progressives don't get up and do something about Obama and these wars we will lose our chance at fundamental change.
