What We Need To Know About Iran And Maddow and Obermann Aint Talking About

Watch Glenn Beck weekdays at 5p & 2a ET on Fox News Channel

What did Iran do this week?
You might have answered that President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad announced Iran will deliver a "telling blow" to global powers on February 11 (the anniversary of the Islamic Revolution). Yes, he did do that. But that's not the latest.
This week Iran successfully launched a rocket into space. The media yawned. The only thing they found interesting about the launch was that the rocket had a rat, two turtles and a worm on board. But they don't look any further than that.
But technically, if Iran can send a missile up into space and have it explode, it could shut down our electronics; that would do more damage to us than any conventional bomb ever could. Imagine the chaos if an EMP bomb took all of our computers, phones, TVs, lights and flipped them off? America would be out of business.
Look, they don't have the power to do this yet, but why would Iran want to do that? Hasn't President Obama's new approach to foreign policy mended all the wounds?
In March of last year, Obama called for "engagement that is honest and grounded in mutual respect" with Iran.
Mutual respect? Really?
The only reason you would even consider talking to Ahmadinejad is because you don't understand who he really is. He's called America the "Great Satan" and also said our friends in Israel must be "wiped off the map."
The media yawns when Ahmadinejad runs off with the mouth because — so far — that's all he's done; talk. They've been trained to ignore him: He's the boy who cried wolf. They don't think he's serious. But that's because they haven't bothered to look into what he believes.
There's another thing that Ahmadinejad says that no one pays attention to. I mean, how many times have you heard the media say: Aren't you concerned about Glenn Beck's language? That you with your tea party sign might cause some kind of global catastrophe. But the guy that wants to vaporize Israel, they don't put any importance on that — you need to watch this:

  1. Great ads Chris.Nuclear tipping point is a wild ad. Could you do a post on: The Washington Post is reporting that Google is working with the National Security Administration to determine the details of the major espionage attack the search firm recently endured. The goal is to try to prevent such security attacks in the future.
While the exact origin of the attacks is likely to remain a mystery, teaming up with the NSA could shed light on how to prevent such attacks from happening again, not only at Google (NSDQ:GOOG), but within other large networks. Privacy advocates worry, however, that the government agency will somehow gain access to private user data.

Neither the NSA nor Google is commenting on their partnership, but the Post reported that anonymous sources said the two organizations will "share critical information without violating Google's policies or laws that protect the privacy of Americans' online communications." In addition, the arrangement will not permit the NSA to view users' searches or e-mail accounts or let Google share proprietary data.

Google said the strikes -- which apparently originated in China -- last month targeted the Google source code and included more than 30 large companies, including those in technology and defense. Gmail accounts of human rights activists in Europe, China and the U.S. were also impacted. The attacks prompted Google to threaten to leave the Chinese market entirely if the government would not agree to let Google run an unfettered -- i.e., uncensored -- search engine there. That issue has not been resolved.

Thanks Chris. The Iran thing is wild and Beck tells it like it is.

  3. Toyota Sucks Don't They?05 February, 2010 08:41

Toyota Motor Corp. today did not deny a Japanese newspaper report that the company will recall an estimated 270,000 of its latest-generation Prius, and the automaker said it would file a notice with the Japanese Transport Ministry and U.S. government.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said today it had opened a formal investigation into allegations that new 2010 Toyota Prius hybrids have experienced momentary loss of braking, as the company disclosed it had secretly made design changes last month.

If true, it would make the third recall Toyota has issued since November and represents the latest embarrassment for the troubled automaker struggling to put a series of safety issues behind it.

The Nikkei newspaper -- which circulates more than 3 million copies a day in Japan -- said Toyota has made the decision to recall the vehicles in both the United States and Japan and that it would be announced Friday in Japan.

A U.S. Transportation Department official said no recall notice has been received. Toyota declined to say directly if it planned to recall the vehicle, saying it was still studying the problem and that the Nikkei report "was not confirmed."

NHTSA said it is investigating about 37,000 2010 Prius models sold in the U.S. over concerns they could lose braking capability while traveling over an uneven road surface, potholes or bumps.Toyota in Japan acknowledged that the Prius had a "design flaw" and that the company made changes to the software running the braking system late last month. The company hadn't previously disclosed the change to consumers or government agencies.

Toyota spokeswoman Martha Voss said the company was aware of the U.S. investigation.

"Toyota will cooperate fully with NHTSA's investigation," she said.

The House Oversight and Government Reform asked Toyota for records on Thursday linked to complaints of faulty braking on Toyota Prius models.

But Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood said in a statement that owners of Prius vehicles should not "panic" and that "Toyota has a strong safety record and is a good corporate citizen."

NHTSA's Office of Defects Investigation has received 124 reports from consumers, including four alleging that crashes occurred. Two of those resulted in two minor injuries, NHTSA said. Investigators have spoken with consumers and conducted pre-investigatory field work.

Before a recall could be ordered, NHTSA would have to determine there was enough evidence to first upgrade the matter to an engineering analysis. Toyota could opt, as it has in the past, to voluntarily recall those vehicles.

In Japan, at least 77 complaints have been received about Prius brake systems. Japanese media reported that Toyota is reviewing the braking systems on all of its hybrid models.

"Safety is our top priority," Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood said. "That is why in recent weeks, NHTSA has also issued a consumer advisory on the recall of several models of Toyota vehicles and the Pontiac Vibe involving pedal entrapment and sticky accelerator pedals. We will continue to monitor these issues closely."

The issue has gotten more attention as owners, including Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak, have raised questions about the Prius' safety. The vehicle is the flagship for the Toyota brand and very popular among many environmentalists and policymakers in Washington.

NHTSA Administrator David Strickland owns a 2005 Toyota Prius. The Environmental Protection Agency administrator also owns a Toyota Prius.

U.S. Commerce Secretary Gary Locke told reporters today that it wasn't clear if U.S. automakers could capture more market share of new car sales due to Toyota's problems.

"It really depends on how Toyota handles this whole thing," Locke said. "The key for the U.S. auto sector is (producing) good quality, high quality products that the American public wants."

  4. Well Al, if Ahmadinejad tries something we can just send the cops over there to arrest him and try his ass in criminal court. Sounds like a plan. Maybe we can get his family to get him to explain what a wonderful court system the United States has, and he will spill the beans. That's a new thing military intelligence is trying out I guess, the family interrogation. BWAAAHAHAHAHA ... only Obummer and the leg-tinglers could come up with something like that.

Of course, he was singing like a canary before that non-citizen was read his rights. Way to go Nobama.

  5. Whenever I see a Toyota ad on the web I click on it. That way it cost them money. If everyone did it every time that would be some big money coming back to America. It's a drop in the bucket but it adds up in time.

  8. Senator Shelby puts holds on 70 appointees over PORK...er...earmarks

According to the report, Shelby is holding Obama's nominees hostage until a pair of lucrative programs that would send billions in taxpayer dollars to his home state get back on track. The two programs Shelby wants to move forward or else:

    - A $40 billion contract to build air-to-air refueling tankers. From CongressDaily: "Northrop/EADS team would build the planes in Mobile, Ala., but has threatened to pull out of the competition unless the Air Force makes changes to a draft request for proposals." Federal Times offers more details on the tanker deal, and also confirms its connection to the hold.

    - An improvised explosive device testing lab for the FBI. From CongressDaily: "[Shelby] is frustrated that the Obama administration won't build" the center, which Shelby earmarked $45 million for in 2008. The center is due to be based "at the Army's Redstone Arsenal."

Though a Shelby spokesperson would not confirm that these programs were behind the blanket hold, the Senator expressed his frustration about the progress on both through a spokesperson to both CongressDaily and the Federal Times.

  9. Clarence Thomas, the mos hypocritical Scotus judge ever. We have him recently challenging the questioning brought by Obama and other Democratic leaders.

"run the risk in our society of undermining institutions that we need to preserve our liberties," Justice Clarence Thomas said Thursday.

Yet, When the right suggested impeachment of SCOTUS justices Clarence kept his motuh shut.

''The time will come for the men responsible for this to answer for their behavior, but not today,'' said Mr. DeLay, who was instrumental in pushing emergency legislation that gave the federal courts jurisdiction over Ms. Schiavo's care, only to see them decline to order her feeding tube restored. Saying that the courts ''thumbed their nose at Congress and the president,'' Mr. DeLay, of Texas, suggested Congress was exploring responses and declined to rule out the possibility of Congressional impeachment of the judges involved."

  10. Joe is Rush in the govt? You do see the difference don't you? Rahm isn't a radio host and Rush isn't a politician in charge of a portion of our country paid by the people. Joe I know you are smarter then that, aren't ya? Common Joe no one did anything about Reids "Negro" comment but when a conservative radio host said something about "nappy hair" he was canned. Did we make that jump into your reality? When we are talking fruit try not compairing them to nuts. It makes you look desparate. It's no different then when you on the left blame Bush for the national debt when Obama and Congress blew Bush record debt away in less then 1 year. You now have become a joke because of your coralations that don't match.

The good news is I don't use your games on you because they aren't in the realm of reality. Thanks for playing though.

  13. One thing we do need to do is make both parties responsable for adding to the debt. I thought Obama was going to change that culture of Washington as usual? It's a lot harder to keep your nose clean when everyone is doing it. But that is no excuss. If the Republicans pill on pork we need to take them to task as well as the Democrats. The problem is the Democrats don't want that. They have a doublwe standared when it comes to what Rep. do vs.what Dems do. I've yet to hear the left take their party to task for anything. But as we have said many times before. Two wrongs don't make a right. Unless you are a liberal/progressive/populous. Bwaaaahahahahahahaha. How many times are you on the left going to change your names? Can we just keep it to one name? How about the one Rahm Emanuel picked out for ya?

  16. Chris, I have no problems rewarding hard work with reasonable bonuses. The workers at Ford deserve bonuses and they didn't take any government money.

I would think, Chris, you'd be in favor of getting back our money from the banksters before they give big bonuses for failure at every level. That's not capitalism or how it's supposed to work.

The banksters committed fraud on the American people and need to be held responsible. You're big on responsibility, aren't you, Chris. This is one issue where liberals and tea baggers should be on the same side. Why you're not on our side on this one is beyond me.

  18. Just when it looked like common sense was starting to prevail regarding the Obama Administration’s decision to grant "constitutional rights" to terrorists and try them — including the mastermind of 9-11 — in civilian courts…

…White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs was deployed to set the American people straight and seemingly turn common sense on its head.

According to a report in The Hill: "White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs said Sunday that the despite reports of mulling new locations to try 9/11 terrorism suspects, the administration still very much wants Khalid Sheikh Mohammed tried in the Big Apple."

But that’s not all. Gibbs, in attempting to justify the administration’s position, may have actually provided Khalid Sheikh Mohammed’s attorneys with ammo for his defense.

On CNN’s "State of the Union," Gibbs made the following declaration: "Khalid Sheikh Mohammed is going to meet justice and he's going to meet his maker. He will be brought to justice and he's likely to be executed for the heinous crimes he committed."

On its face, Gibbs’ comment is spot on. But, as reported by Al Jazeera mere hours later: "Legal experts say Gibbs' 'meet his maker' comments are shocking and reduce the chances of a fair trial.... Defense attorney Ramzi Kassem, who is looking after a number of Gitmo and Afghan detainees, told al Jazeera: '... with statements like Mr. Gibb's they are making the prosecutors jobs much more difficult because they are arming defense lawyers with additional argument.'"

Make no mistake, now that Barack Obama has waved his magic wand from on high and bestowed constitutional rights on the mastermind of 9-11, there can be no doubt that Khalid Sheikh Mohammed’s trial will become a three-ring circus... one that may very well aid in the recruitment of more terrorists who will take up arms against the United States.

We already know that when U.S. authorities captured Khalid Sheik Mohammed, he made two specific and immediate demands. He demanded an attorney and he demanded to be taken to New York.

Now we know why. The only questions that remain are:

    Why is the Obama Administration moving heaven and earth to give one of the world's most notorious foreign terrorists (who, by the way, was willing to plead guilty to a military court) constitutional rights (to which he is not entitled) and a civilian trial and;

Are we going to just stand by and let it happen?

  23. Chris, i think that the comments by Rush have a lot of signifigance within our discussion.

First what Rahm said was a private conversation, unlike Rush who offered it as a public commentary.

Second, Rahm works solely for the President not for the american people. He is not an elected official and although he is paid by the government, thus the people he is still not a direct employee of them.

And finally i don't want Rush to be put off the air. Its just nice that he expose the fact that she acts in a partisan manner.

Surely you can see that what Rush did was far worse than what Rahm did?

  24. There are still 7 of the nine companies that got bailouts that haven't paid back the money and the banksters are up to their old tricks which if not addressed will lead to another financial crisis.

Republicans have no interest in regulating the banking industry. They have no interest in keeping the frauds in the big banks from creating another financial bubble as bad or worse than the last one.

    Pay back the bailouts.

Chris, any bonus i earned i am taking. If the company made a profit from our concessions and work i am entitled to it by contract. Simple enough to you? I gave up money to help Ford move towards profitability and when it did make a profit i deserve to see those concessions returned as they did for Salary.

Don't throw stones when you live in glass houses.

  27. Well FAILk, I didn't realize there was a deadline for paying back the LOANS that they were FORCED TO TAKE.

A majority of the loans have been paid back. With interest. That's a fact my fat little friend. Except by Fannie and Freddie, one of the leading causes of this financial crisis. So maybe we should do something about THEM.

What fraud did the big banks commit FAILk? That's one I would be interested in hearing.

So once again, I'm a hypocrite, throwing stones in my glass house, and deflecting. All with this statement "Once again Chris, two wrongs make a right according to the libtards. You can't question MY dubious source because YOU somewhere maybe used a dubious source."

I am absolutely correct that you are doing the typical libtard way of two wrongs make a right. Again, call anyone out if you think they are using a dubious source. We all do it. But I find it hilarious when you stoop to that level and get all proud of yourself. Typical Hypocrat hypocrisy.

  31. John McCain unaware or just lying????

Last night on Fox he once again claimed that the "fact" that Umar Abdulmutallab was traveling on a one-way ticket should have been a red flag.

"We don't need to go through all the fact -- that his father went to the embassy. That he showed up on a one-way ticket. That ... all of the things that should have, quote, connected the dots -- a phrase I hate, by the way. But we should have. It never should have reached that point," McCain told Greta Van Susteren.

Late Update: McCain spokesperson Brooke Buchanan tells us that the senator is "aware now" that Abdulmutallab was not on a one-way ticket.

Like maybe he should be aware before he goes and spouts off on national TV. But he had already been told and argued against it...

  39. Nominations of pork? Is Porky Pig being tapped by Obummer for the TWA job or something?

LOL, just kidding Joey! Can I joke around with you, or are you going to fly off the handle again?

Hey, as you know I'm flat out against pork and the stimulus, you said that yourself. As you can see, not only does it have a destructive force on our economy, and the use of pork destroys our "free market" economy (not free at all, but that's for another day), but these politicians can sell their votes to the highest bidder, like Gary Peters or Ben Nelson. So I can take, from your comment, that you will be joining with me in denouncing pork and lobbyist money for both parties Joey?

    ReplyDelete
  40. Joey, I think you are on to something. The more I think about it, the more I see the sense of it. You are saying let's pressure the majority party in Congress to stop this porkulus and pork-barrel spending? Because it gives these Senators too much power, and that kind of power leads corporations and other interests to buy votes with "lobbying" (aka bribes) in order to favor them, not to mention passing laws and regulations that cut out competition? Joey, I am totally with you!

Let's get after the majority party and have that be one of their big focuses: eliminating pork with a HATCHET, not just a little play-doh plastic scalpel. Which party is in majority now ... hmmm ... well, there's the Hypocrats, but they can't seem to be able to do a damn thing. Except make excuses. But let's put the pressure on them! After all, the less power these politicians have, the less control over our every little move, and the less corporations will care about them.

So we need to get after the Hypocrats to limit their power that they and the Republicans have grabbed for themselves over the years. Both parties are to blame for sure Joey, but only one party has the numbers to make a difference. If only they had the will to give up the power and money and influence.

After all, you just really proved yourself to be the master at that, without any help from me. BWAAAAAHAHAHAHAHA

  48. That is sick stuff over there. It sounds like JayNey has Joes number. You liberals are a scary group. They do the same thing on Bruces blog and then call us mean over here. Joe you aren't acting like yourself. Are you sure you aren't projecting being unhinged on John?

  49. JoeC You Made Comment ABOUT Earning Your Bonus Through Concessions. I think thats Great and You Deserve it! In the Same VAIN I Think Tax Payers Who EARN there Money Through Hard Work Deserve MOST of Their Earnings! Why is IT Fair For People Who Could But Dont, Get Money Through Entitlements from those WHO EARNED It?

  50. Chris, don't disturb Joey, he's trying to think up an even better title to his blog. Let's help him out, shall we?

How about this one, so your kid can read your blog Joey: John is big MEANIE-WEENIE!

Or how about this one: I'm ANGRY AND I DON'T KNOW WHY!!!!

Some other suggestions: The Hypocrats are EPIC failures and it's all John and Bush's fault

I got committed to the insane asylum and all I got was this stupid straight-jacket

If you can read this blog you are a rare liberal indeed!

    This blog brakes for communism!

Or Joey could always resort to just a bunch of swear-words.

I might add a ticker to my blog, counting the number of days that Joey has been off the wagon/his meds. BWAAAAHAHAHAHA

  51. John,
I thought about how i'd respond to these posts and after a few attempts i realised thats the game. I'd spend all this time and energy responding to nasty malcious attacks that not only bend the truth but cross some serious lines. Perhaps i'd get frustrated and quit or come back and go off on you using foul langauge giving you more ammo. I'm not doing either of those.

People want to see my blog they can go see it. I'm not who you make me out to be and it doesn't matter in the end what you say here. People can either judge my blog by whats written or by how you portray it, but i can't change that. I am not embarassed by one thing I wrote there. I am who i am. But i do have some things to say about your posts.

First, its really nasty of you to insinuate that i would beat my wife and kids. Its not right and i think you crossed a huge line there. In the same vein, its wrong to suggest i drink on the job and that I don't do my job. Nothing more than trying to portray me as something i am not.

You changed your blog title to "get me" first. Right after i questioned you about attacking Bruce. I was silly to respond in kind.

And you do engage in angry over the top hyperbole. From your "most racist" comments to your recent "most Corrupt" Gary Peters stuff its been nothing more than that.

As for my blog title. I had that title on webboard for years disucssing politics way back to the 2000 election and just used it here. If that somehow makes you feel entitled to label me a nut-job then so be it.

Now i'd like you to remove my name from your blog title. Nothing about that is true and you have no right say such a thing.

  52. Like seeks like JoeC. And JayNey thinks you two are a lot alike. I don't think your that way but it scares me to think JayNey does. Maybe she is a better judge of characture then me.LOL. I hope everyone can calm down about ten notches. It is getting too hot on this blog. I wont be a dictator over this blog either. I just think you make yourself look bad when you attack, hurt, use bad language. I don't care what happens on the other blogs. Let them take care of those blogs. Can we all try and debate the issues or do you prefer to fight?

    ReplyDelete
  53. Jay Ney can think whatever she likes, but it doesn't make me like her. I didn't remove her post because i didn't know it was there. I haven't blogged in a while. mostly just comments on yours.

you never responded to my answer about the bonus.

  54. here's more on Tardgate...

Sarah Palin's campaign against the derogatory usage of the word "retard" collided with her campaign to maintain her popularity with conservatives today, with confusing results.

A Palin spokeswoman seemed to back away from earlier criticism of conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh. Yesterday, when asked for comment on Limbaugh's use of the "r" word in a recent broadcast, Palin spokeswoman told Greg Sargent of the Washington Post, "Governor Palin believes crude and demeaning name-calling at the expense of others is disrespectful." Today, Stapleton claims the statement was meant generally and she was not specifically referring to Limbaugh. Still, she declined to say that Palin believes Limbaugh's statements were acceptable.

So Sarah won't actually go on her Facebook page and condemn Rush for it? Whether she calls for his firing or not, she should use the same means and passion to challange a hugely popular representative of conservative beliefs as she would anyone else.

Its a blatant double standard and obvious that she has to kowtow to the rightwing media giant.

  55. Joe I want you to keep your hard earned money just like want that of everyone. But it does puzzle me how you want to spread the wealth unless it's your wealth. The unions want the health care bill but refuse to pay it thus making someone else pay for what they want. They are qorkey things that bother me. I,like most conservatives wish everyone would make more money. We don't get jealous and we wish well on those that make the American dream come true. The Progressives want to take from the rich and everyone else. They don't wish well on the companies they work for and they hate profits. One way is destructive and the other is constructive. Joe I was just joking about JayNey and the bird of a feather thing. Don't be made at Sarah Palin because she is playing the same politics as the left. You on the left are bigger hypocrites. I think you on the left just hate Sarah Palin because she is different and because she doesn't take the BS thrown by the liberals.

  58. Chris, i have no problem with paying the tax, but many in the auto industry including the conservative members of the UAW wonder why the burden would be placed on already reeling industrie like ours.

Whether you consider it justified or not, its not just the leftwing union members who don't want to pay the tax.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Chris one of the issues with the Healthcare debate is that the lack of government funding on healthcare makes our industry cost ineffective to those from Japan and Europe who receive either single payer or subsidies for healthcare.

    ReplyDelete
  60. What if Other Hard Hit Industrys Say WHY Not US Cause WE Also are HARD HIT!

If this Would Occurr YOU then Would Have a Government Health Care Plan! I Understand Unions Have Paid Through Campaign for this BENNY But What ABOUT the Rest!
It Does Appear to be a Redistribution of Wealth Cause SOMEBODY Is Paying for it and that Would BE The Tax Payers/Government Program!

    ReplyDelete
  61. Joe then why would you want to burden the rest of us with that tax when you unions have been asking for that health care reform and benifite most from it? We are all hurting here. If you can't pay the tax neither can we. Then we go without if we can't afford it. I know that sounds novel to the left but it is the same fact of life we all have to live by.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Joe I lived in Japan and if you want their standard of living have at it. If we lived like they do in Japan and Europe spending $500 a month on health insurance would be easy. The problem is you want cable TV,nice cars, big houses and all the other stuff but they don't want to pay for insurance. Ain't nothing free brother. And as we can see from Medicare and SSI going bankrupt and becoming a slush fund just when the boomers are coming of age I don't want to let the fox gaurd the henhouse anymore. SSI is just another gereational theft as far as I'm conserned. It most likely be there after the boomers take all they can out of it.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Chris, i'm not suggesting you pay the tax i don't. Not at all. I'm just offering the feelings of the average worker both left and right.

In many ways i am glad that Scott Brown got elected. The health care bill became more than the health care bill and needs to return to only a health care reform bill.
