Obama Opens Up Off Shore Drilling

Obama just opened up off shore drilling. But knowing the left they will tie it up in court till I'm 102. What do you think?

  1. I think you are right on Chris. This guy has been nothing but lies since he came into office ... actually, since he was running for office.

This smacks of his claiming he was going to build more nuclear power plants, while simultaneously closing off Yucca Mountain. Billions have been spent on that site to give America a safe depository. Obama says one thing and does another.

  2. This is good news. America should have been drilling offshore decades ago. Not drilling off America’s shores to please environmentalist was always a foolish policy. With so many nations drilling oil for us (and less responsibly too) we were only deluding ourselves into thinking we were saving the planet.

The environmentalists are going to want Obama’s hide for this. As such I will not be surprised if he has some gift of appeasement coming down the pike for the enviro-wienies. You will notice from the graphic, that the drilling is not going to happen anywhere near the bluest of blue states. Perhaps that is the first gift of appeasement.

Given Obama’s dig at Mitt Romney by comparing ObamaCare to RomneyCare, I have to wonder if this offshore drilling has anything to do with taking some of the wind out of Sarah Palin’s sails. Energy independence is Palin’s strongest suit, with Obama and Palin now on the same page, is she neutralized on this issue?

Finally, given the successful resurrection of ObamaCare, I am somewhat leery that this might be a way to revive Cap and Trade. God help us if it is, Cap and Trade will for sure polish us off economically.

  4. What he gives, he takes double away. In return for his generosity (snicker)the proposed leases in Alaska's Bristol Bay will be canceled. And the Interior Department also planned to reverse last year's decision to open up parts of the Chukchi and Beaufort seas.....

Don't expect him to move to the center and finally come around to what most Americans want... Drill here, drill now.

  5. Just an election year ploy is all. I have heard that leases will not even be concidered until at 2012 and then all the bickering, protesting, congressional delays, court battles,,,,,,

  7. Tax and Trade and EPA Will NOT Let Drilling For OUR Own Energy to Become a Realality! This Is JUST Another State Run Media Propagana Message That In Fact Will NEVER Happen Under This Administration! Not Now Not Ever!

  8. well, i think the possibility exists that this is a legitimate concession to the reality of our energy situation. We are not yet ready to rely on renewable enrgy and the reality of nuclear is 20 years away.

Steve, i think what you have is smart politics. Since there is a need for off shore drilling do it in the states that are the most supportive of it. Its a "be Carefull what you ask for" situation. Anything goes wrong and tourist traps on the coast end up shut down, the blue states don't lose out.

Seems a common sense approach to the issue. give the areas that are open to it what they want and the areas that aren't what they want.

  10. Joe, I guess I should have put quotes around this "the proposed leases in Alaska's Bristol Bay will be canceled. And the Interior Department also planned to reverse last year's decision to open up parts of the Chukchi and Beaufort seas"
This is from the AP article on this announcement.
