Teachers Union Big Wig Says It's Not About Kids, It's About Power!

National Education Association’s retiring top lawyer, Bob Chanin, speaking at the NEA’s annual meeting in July, 2009:
“Despite what some among us would like to believe it is not because of our creative ideas. It is not because of the merit of our positions. It is not because we care about children and it is not because we have a vision of a great public school for every child. NEA and its affiliates are effective advocates because we have power.”
“And we have power because there are more than 3.2 million people who are willing to pay us hundreds of millions of dollars in dues each year, because they believe that we are the unions that can most effectively represent them, the unions that can protect their rights and advance their interests as education employees.”
“This is not to say that the concern of NEA and its affiliates with closing achievement gaps, reducing dropout rates, improving teacher quality and the like are unimportant or inappropriate. To the contrary. These are the goals that guide the work we do. But they need not and must not be achieved at the expense of due process, employee rights and collective bargaining. That simply is too high a price to pay.”

This has got to make parents and grandparents feel good knowing that this is who is "teaching" their children. This is just more reason to throw out the unions. Keep the teachers, but throw out the unions.

While this is happening in Wisconsin we have the Democratic Party calling for violence in the streets.
"Sometimes it's necessary to get out in the streets and "get a little bloody," a Massachusetts Democrat said Tuesday in reference to labor battles in Wisconsin.
Rep. Michael Capuano (D-Mass.) fired up a group of union members in Boston with a speech urging them to work down in the trenches to fend off limits to workers' rights like those proposed in Wisconsin.
Does that sound like a call to violence? It sure does to me. If there is any violence it will be on the Democratic Parties hands.

  2. Hey, Chris, did you see that Gov. Walker got punked this morning. He talked to a journalist as if he was one of his financiers, the Koch Brothers and he revealed his whole scheme to bust the unions.

I wonder how much longer Walker will be in office after this fiasco hits the main stream media.

There have been NO calls for violence. This has been a completely peaceful protest. I don't know why you insist in this empty rhetoric, Chris.

Nothing could be further from the truth. I know truth and facts mean nothing to people like you, Chris. Why am I still surprised when you continue to lie about everything.

This is calling for violence, bfuck. Who cares about some liberal punking Scott Walker? Only liberals care. The rest of the country doesn't give a shit.

Do you think that no one will notice that you are standing with communists in Wisconsin? Talk about being punked. That one will blow up in your faces. Birds of a feather, bfealch.
