Leaked Internal House Leadership Whip Count Shows 47 Dems at No, 8 Leaning No and 12 Undecided

Plumline’s Greg Sargent has posted the results of a highly confidential House Democratic Party Whip Count which shows 47 Democrats at No on a public option, with another 8 leaning No for a total of 56. A dozen Democratic House members are still undecided. The hard No votes, alone, are enough to kill the bill. The leaked document was produced by the U.S. House Majority Whip’s office.
In a major violation of whipping protocol, the document was shared with Progressive House members who refuse to vote for health reform unless it contains a robust public option. Plumline reports that the Progressive Members of Congress (hard core left-wingers) blamed everyone: the White House and the Democratic leadership for not putting enough pressure on members to vote for the public option, from Plumline:
“House progressives argue that the document should light a fire under Dem leaders. One House progressive tells me he’s convinced that most of the undecideds, and a number of the No votes, can be won over with the right mix of pressure and incentives — which only the House leadership and the White House can provide.”
“Only leadership and the White House can get this done,” this progressive says.
Plumline quotes the spokesperson for James Clyburn, the House Majority Whip: “Kristie Greco would only say: ‘We currently do not have the votes for a robust public option.’”

Plumline begins the start of the first push back from Progressives since Senator Durbin (D-IL) blamed liberals for forcing their hand and including the public option — and likely is the start of the new inside the beltway drama headlined by Democrats and now in its second day: Who-gets-blamed-for-the-failure-of-the-public-option? We all know that the Democrats always blame the Republicans even when it is clearly not their fault.

  1. That's right Chris, more sunshine and lollipops for the liberals! This is all going just as they planned it! *Jams head in sand*

Here's some more good news for the liberals! Their president is more hated than ever before!

    Daily Presidential Tracking Poll
    Wednesday, October 28, 2009

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Wednesday shows that 30% of the nation's voters Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as President. Forty-one percent (41%) Strongly Disapprove giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -11 (see trends). Republicans lead by four on the Generic Congressional Ballot.

Eighty-five percent (85%) trust their own judgment more than reporters and 53% say the average reporter is more liberal than they are. Sixteen percent (16%) say reporters are more conservative.

In Virginia's Governor race, Republican Robert F. McDonnell has opened a thirteen point lead over Democrat Creigh Deeds.

The Presidential Approval Index is calculated by subtracting the number who Strongly Disapprove from the number who Strongly Approve. It is updated daily at 9:30 a.m. Eastern.

Overall, 48% of voters say they at least somewhat approve of the President's performance. Fifty-two percent (52%) disapprove.

Fifty-seven percent (57%) of voters nationwide believe the health care proposal being considered by Congress would raise the cost of care while 53%believe the quality of care would go down. Still, 45% support the plan and 54% say it is at least somewhat likely to become law.

  2. Wow John it really does suck to be a Democrat/Socialist. All their promises and not one has come true. They are all talk and no substance. The bogger they are the harder they fall. The liberals are going to go crazy in the streets when reality hits them. I wouldn't put it past them to do something crazy like they did at the G 20 protests.

  3. Wow the the dems are bailing on the public option BS?They must not be buying into the bogus poll done by I think NBC that said most Americans support the public option.
They might not be as dumb as NBC takes them and the rest of us for.

  4. Chris - They already did riot in the streets, all three of them. Don't you remember Big Chris said they showed up at the rally?

    BWAAAAAHAHAHAHA!!! Buncha losers.

  5. Not too many people agree with the far left activists like Bruce Fealk. I wonder if djtyg and vomamike were the other two.

Please keep it clean and nice. Thank you for taking the time to post you thought. It means a lot to me that you do this.
