The Democrats Are In Big Trouble And It's The Progressives Fault Not Bush's

Nancy PelosiDo not freak out about Sen. Snowe talking to the Dems.
Senator Snowe has rejected moving forward on any health care bill with the Democrats using reconciliation. This is GREAT NEWS. Without reconciliation the Dems will be in a de novo — start at the beginning — situation, which is where they should start.
If the desperate Dems try reconciliation, this time, they will have a far more serious Republican strategy of “outright war” to deal with — and the repercussions of being on ObamaCare on the Senate floor and in Senate Committees for months and months.
The Dems would be so bloodied and beaten and wounded by the end of their attempt, ObamaCare would not pass, and they would have destroyed the less than one percent chance to explain to the American people that they are not dangerous radicals that ignore what the people want, and keep cramming ObamaCare down the public’s throat because they, the Dems in Washington, know better.
Politico, quoting Sen. Snowe:
“Snowe made it very clear she could not support any form of a bill that came through the reconciliation process—a legislative move she called “wrong and untenable….”

“I hope they reject the reconciliation route. I think that would be wrong and untenable,” Snowe said. “There are things in the bill that could be supported regarding small business that I have worked with Sen. Durbin, Sen. Lincoln, and the small business community… some tax incentives, allowing plans to be purchased across state lines—that would all be invaluable to small business who are undeniably facing a crisis with health care cost.”
The Dems have repeatedly wanted and acted in Dem-only mode for health care reform and have had their heads handed to them in NJ, VA and MA. There is no guarantee they will not continue their arrogant and self-destructive behavior. The voters aren’t stupid, if the Dems keep pushing a Dem-only approach — with even fewer, more liberal Dems, then the public will think they are even more dangerous and more crazy than they think they are now — and when NPR gets a 5 point generic ballot edge for the GOP — which doubles to 10 points when you look at likely voters, and the Dems keep pushing and keep ignoring the public, then they really, truly have lost their minds.
For the Dems to try to pass health care via reconciliation, the House and Senate Democrats must overcome substantial ill-will towards each other, and begin to trust each other.
We will mop the floor with them, if they try reconciliation and their political pain and back-biting will reach unheard of levels. BIG FUN.                 Posted by Dan Perrin
More groveling by this pathetic President.

  2. Last year's effort to stimulate the economy was effective only in saving state and local government jobs. Meanwhile, the private sector has lost 5.9 million jobs since 2007. http://www.investors.com/NewsAndAnalysis/Article.aspx?id=518614

And unemployment has risen to 10% http://www.bls.gov/news.release/empsit.nr0.htm

Try something new. Stimulate the economy by cutting the cost of federal regulations, which will exceed $1 trillion this year. http://cei.org/cei_files/fm/active/0/Wayne%20Crews%20-%2010,000%20Commandments%202009.pdf

That would pay for 20 million $50,000-a-year jobs!

Creating new jobs is easy -- just make it simpler to do business in America. The economy crashed because of Federal Reserve credit manipulations and excessive risk-taking encouraged by government polices. It was too much regulation and political meddling that led to the problem, NOT a lack of regulation.

Instead of piling more burdens on top of those you've already created, please do this instead . . .

    * make it less costly for businesses to comply with the tax laws, by simplifying them
    * end Sarbanes-Oxley, which burdens companies while doing little to reduce fraud http://cei.org/articles/2010/01/17/sarbox-might-be-coming-end
    * regulate financial institutions through consumer choice, and by allowing bad institutions to fail (no more bailouts!)

Most importantly . . . start following the Constitution's Commerce clause!

The Clause reads . . . "(The Congress shall have power) To regulate Commerce with foreign Nations, and among the several States, and with the Indian tribes."

The rule tells you that you can only regulate goods and services that cross state lines. You CANNOT regulate business activities that happen WITHIN a state. Congress must therefore stop . . .

    * regulating the terms, conditions, and wages of employment
    * regulating goods and services sold locally

By limiting the reach of Congressional regulation to *interstate* commerce, Congress will create more freedom for . . .

    * the unemployed to find work
    * entrepreneurs to start new businesses
    * small retail business owners to compete
    * farmers to serve local markets

What they've done so far has violated the Constitution, and it didn't work. Do something that will work. Obey the Constitution. The people will take care of the rest.

  3. Chris, when you use images like the one in this post, it puts you in the column with the farthest of the far right wing. But I guess that's where you belong.

This is NOT where America is, no matter how much you wish it were so.

  4. Pelosi should be removed from office and prosecuted. Typical liberal, rules do not apply to them.

Using Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests, Judicial Watch uncovered thousands of pages of travel documents related to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s use of military aircraft.

What hasn’t been revealed so far is that military aircraft are being used to shuttle Pelosi’s kids and grandkids between DC and San Francisco without any Congressional representatives even onboard! Put simply, the United States Air Force is serving as a multi-billion dollar chauffeur- and baby-sitting service for Nancy Pelosi’s kids and grandkids — presumably because commercial travel is beneath the families of the autocrats.

  10. Been thinking about the whole invite the right to the discussion vs. the right doesn't want to play thing and reading the reality of the two proposals, the right didn't come to play.

Lets see, offer solutions that would increase health coverage by 3 million or by 36 million? I know which one is a real proposal.
