What are your thoughts on changing the way marriage has been defined?

For all of history marriage has been between a man and women. Why would anyone want to mess with what has worked for over 10,000 years?

  1. Sad! It's a sign of things to come. It's another example of being far too politically correct!

    1. Love and marriage are two different things Liz. There is no legislation anywhere in the country prohibiting who you may or may not fall in love with. Similarly, there is nothing in particular in the North Carolina vote regarding who may or may not live together, or be considered partners. Many states recognize civil unions too. Marriage however has roots dating back millennia. Demanding change in that light is not enough to justify just doing it.

There are people who have moral or philosophical issues with changing the definition. One can be in favor of a traditional institution and not be a bigot by the way. To make such a generalization is highly prejudicial.

  3. If it's in the Bible this administration goes against it every time. Mrs. Pelosi said homosexual marriage is a Catholic thing. Pray that God opens their eyes.

  4. 38 States of passed laws by the vote of the people or an amendment to their constitution defining marriage is between a man and a woman.
This is going to bit Obama in the ars in Nov. Won't be the big issue that gets him out, but it doesn't help him, either.

    1. 38 states are wrong. They should never have "Defined" Marriage and only succeeded in making certain people less equal. Truly a tragic waste, and against everything this country stands for.

The state should never deny the legal rights of two consenting adults and worse yet is those states engaging in separate but equal using civil unions. Just another example of conservative Big Government.

  5. if there is a vote out there nobama will do what it takes to get it! Regime dunt get it. Economy and Jobs are what matters to citizens. The side shows distract from the real issues and is just smoke to cover regimes failures. This issue will not help nobama and may cost him in the election Thirty some states have passed legislation not reconizing same sex marriage! I personnely believe if EWE fall in love with a goat aint my problem but calling it a marriage is!

  6. Who gives a shit about the voters. Why do you care what people do in their bedrooms?

  7. First of all, marriage is a physical as well as a spiritual union, sanctioned by God. We can argue this until hell freezes over and that won't change. Anonymous above asks 'why do you care what people do in their bedrooms?' - HELLOOOOOO - we don't! In fact 99% of us do not WANT to know - it's the gays who feel the need to be defined by their sexuality and who demand we all accept them as regular folk, which WE WOULD if they didn't feel the need for special classification, and therefore special rights. What I find comical is all this uproar now that Obama has 'come out' in support of gay marriage. READ WHAT THE SLIMEBALL SAID. Not a thing has changed. He's said this will NOT be part of the Democrat platform in November, and he plans to do nothing on the national levelto change the law, as he sees this as a states' rights issue. (Wish he felt that way on illegal immigration)

His evolution was purely a financial decision, and it worked - the gays opened their checkbooks within the hour. What a bunch of idiots! LMAO!

    1. Firebird,
The state, nor the Federal system can not endorse a spiritual union sanctioned by God. The fact that you feel our rights as citizens should be defined by what you feel GOD wants is against the very nature of the Constitution.

As for special rights, what's special about two adults wanting to get married? Yeah, only the ones you like can have that legal right, not the ones you don't. So the only ones with special rights are the hetero couples, because they get legal rights and sanction while gay couples don't.

Your a bigot. You believe in telling others they can't have what you do, because they aren't LIKE you.

  8. I don't get why conservatives don't want gays to marry each other. It doesn't hurt anyone. But as i can see by what the author of this blog wrote: "For all of history marriage has been between a man and women. Why would anyone want to mess with what has worked for over 10,000 years?" it looks to me like it's only about pure conservatism, like you hate change and would like the world to just stay like it is, forever. It's even reactionary, I would say. Does marriage not work for same sex couples? I have seen lots of happy gay couples who are married and cannot see any problem with people being happy when not hurting anyone.

  9. It hurts society. That is why marriage has always been between a man and a women since recorded history in every culture and land. Why do you want to do something that has never worked? Marriage is the best method to insure the procreation of the human race. Just because you've found some gays that have seemed successful doesn't mean it good.
