Sarah Palin Calls For Rahm Emanuel To Be Canned

Sarah Palin calls for Rahm Emanuel to  be canned for calling a progressive group’s idea to target moderate Democrats with attack ads “f*cking retardes". This after Obama had made fun of the Special Olympics.  What do the progressives have to say about being called "f*cking retards" by a Democrat of all people? This is getting comedic. We have seen racism from the left, bigotry of Christian and Jews and a genocidal war on people with Down Syndrom and other disabilities. When their is 1 out of every 150 kids born with Autism today the Obama admin better stop looking down on the least of Gods creatures.

Are You Capable of Decency, Rahm Emanuel?
The newly-released mind-boggling, record-smashing $3,400,000,000,000 federal budget invites plenty of opportunity to debate the merits of incurring more and more debt that will drown the next generation of Americans. Never has it been possible to spend your way out of debt. So... let the debate begin.
Included in the debate process will be opportunities for our president to deliberate internally the wisdom of this debt explosion, along with other economic, military and social issues facing our country. Our president will discuss these important issues with Democrat leaders and those within his inner circle. I would ask the president to show decency in this process by eliminating one member of that inner circle, Mr. Rahm Emanuel, and not allow Rahm’s continued indecent tactics to cloud efforts. Yes, Rahm is known for his caustic, crude references about those with whom he disagrees, but his recent tirade against participants in a strategy session was such a strong slap in many American faces that our president is doing himself a disservice by seeming to condone Rahm’s recent sick and offensive tactic.
The Obama Administration’s Chief of Staff scolded participants, calling them, “F---ing retarded,” according to several participants, as reported in the Wall Street Journal.
Just as we’d be appalled if any public figure of Rahm’s stature ever used the “N-word” or other such inappropriate language, Rahm’s slur on all God’s children with cognitive and developmental disabilities – and the people who love them – is unacceptable, and it’s heartbreaking.
A patriot in North Andover, Massachusetts, notified me of Rahm’s “retarded” slam. I join this gentleman, who is the father of a beautiful child born with Down Syndrome, in asking why the Special Olympics, National Down Syndrome Society and other groups condemning Rahm’s degrading scolding have been completely ignored by the White House. No comment from his boss, the president?
As my friend in North Andover says, “This isn’t about politics; it’s about decency. I am not speaking as a political figure but as a parent and as an everyday American wanting my child to grow up in a country free from mindless prejudice and discrimination, free from gratuitous insults of people who are ostensibly smart enough to know better... Have you no sense of decency, sir?”
Mr. President, you can do better, and our country deserves better.
Sarah Palin

A White House official emails that Rahm Emanuel has acknowledged calling liberal Democrats "retarded" and apologized for the remark.
"Rahm called Tim Shriver Wednesday to apologize and the apology was accepted," the official said.
Shriver is the Chairman and CEO of the Special Olympics, which has launched acampaign against what it calls "the R word."
The remark was first reported last week in the Wall Street Journal, and drew an extended attack from Sarah Palin.
Said the official, “The White House remains committed to addressing the concerns and needs of Americans living with disabilities and recognizes that derogatory remarks demean us all.”
UPDATE: A Democrat points out Rahm apologized to Shriver, but not to the liberals he called "retarded."

Michigan Lawmakers Call for Greater Access to Credit for Manufacturers

On January 28, Michigan Representatives Sandy Levin, John Dingell, and Gary Peters announced that they will introduce legislation to help manufacturers access the financing they need to expand, diversify, and hire new workers. The legislation utilizes a credit support model that the Michigan Economic Development Corporation has successfully used to help manufacturers diversify their businesses. The bill would give states the resources to partner with financial institutions to directly address the cash flow and collateral problems that are preventing too many manufacturers from accessing credit.

“It’s vital that we recognize the unique challenges that manufacturers face in obtaining credit right now. Their cash flows and collateral have been hit hard by the recession, and we must ensure that any small business lending plan addresses these challenges,” said Rep. Levin. Rep. Levin Sponsors Bill to Protect Unemployed Workers from Excessive Bank Fees

On January 29, Rep. Levin introduced legislation to prohibit banks from charging unreasonable fees on debit cards used to pay government benefits, including unemployment insurance. Many states, including Michigan, have begun to offer unemployment insurance and other benefits on debit cards. While these cards can provide convenience, workers often face excessive fees for withdrawals, balance inquiries, attempting to use their card when it has an insufficient balance, and other services.

“The last thing unemployed workers need when trying to make ends meet is to be charged bank fees when they use their unemployment benefits,” said Rep. Levin. “This legislation would prohibit banks from setting unnecessary fees attached to benefit cards and ensure workers have access to clear information about the terms of these cards.” For more information on the Benefit Card Fairness Act is available here.

Hunger a Significant Problem in Southeast Michigan

The Food Research and Action Center (FRAC) released a survey last week that showed 19.2% of households in our community had difficulty buying food over the course of the past two years. The data, which was collected by Gallup, shows that food hardship for the nation as a whole rose from 16.3% of households in the first quarter of 2008 to 19.5% in the fourth quarter of 2008 before dropping slightly to 18.5% at the end of 2009. To review the Food Hardship report, click here.

Rep. Levin has introduced legislation to expand and strengthen a tax deduction that encourages business donations to food banks and pantries so that they can accommodate the increased need. The legislation makes more businesses eligible for the deduction and provides a two year increase in the amount of the deduction.

We would like to know what you bloggers think about these issues. We will be following responses. We have to get it done.

President Obama Again Criticizes Trips to Las Vegas

President Obama is catching heat from Nevada lawmakers and business leaders regarding his comments Tuesday criticizing trips to Las Vegas.

During the president's town hall meeting in Nashua, New Hampshire, he discussed the need to curb spending during tough economic times. "When times are tough, you tighten your belts," the president said. "You don't go buying a boat when you can barely pay your mortgage. You don't blow a bunch of cash on Vegas when you're trying to save for college."

The president's comments come nearly a year after he criticized companies that received federal money for taking corporate junkets to Las Vegas. "You can't go take that trip to Las Vegas or go down to the Super Bowl on taxpayers' dime," he said at the time. Local business leaders say Nevada tourism suffered last year in part because companies canceled trips to Las Vegas in the wake of the president's comments.

His statement Tuesday drew sharp criticism from Nevada lawmakers. "The President needs to lay off Las Vegas and stop making it the poster child for where people shouldn't be spending their money," said Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, a Democrat. "Las Vegas is suffering through one of the highest unemployment rates in the country, and we cannot afford for the President to bring us down any further," added Republican Senator John Ensign. "Nevada has one of the most distressed economies in the country, and the President has done little to focus on job creation over the past year. Discouraging people from coming to our state to make a political point adds insult to injury," said Republican Congressman Dean Heller.

"Tourism is the number one economic stimulus for Southern Nevada and for many cities and states across the country. While we appreciate Las Vegas is top of mind for the President, we would ask that he offer words of encouragement instead of criticism," Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority President and CEO Rossi Ralenkotter said.

President Obama is scheduled to visit Las Vegas this month.

  17. Wine Train Stimulus Scam Gets Even Uglier With No-Bid Set-Aside Swindle

Fiscal conservatives have been howling in protest over the $54 million earmarked by Obama’s Stimulus Package to finance something called “The Wine Train” in California’s scenic Napa Valley. The notion that the government was squandering millions of taxpayer dollars to prop up a private tourist attraction seemed to epitomize everything that was wrong with pork-barrel politics masquerading as sober economic policy. I mean, while we’re subsidizing tourist traps, why not give a couple hundred million to Disneyland to build a new “Pirates of the Potomac” ride?

But the howls are about to get a lot louder. Because an investigation just published by California Watch and reprinted in the San Francisco Chronicle shows that the Wine Train scam was far worse than you imagined. The $54 million wasn’t just spent on an overpriced not-a-thrill ride for tipsy tourists: it was thrown down the toilet on a no-bid contract handed to a shady Alaskan front corporation which deviously abused race-based “set-aside” laws to land a vastly overpriced deal — which they then proceeded to subcontract at a much lower rate to a different company, while pocketing a cool $20 million for doing no work whatsoever.

The price tag might have been significantly lower but for the Wine Train, a private rail line established by the late Vincent DeDomenico, the wealthy creator of Rice-A-Roni pasta. Sixteen times each week, according to the Wine Train’s Web site, the train transports tourists from Napa to St. Helena aboard restored dining cars. A champagne dinner on the Vista Dome car costs $129 per person. About 125,000 people ride the Wine Train each year.

Brosamer, the Walnut Creek contractor, said the public was paying a premium for the Wine Train project, saying, “It would have been a hell of a lot cheaper if they had put it out to bid.”

But the quality of the construction is first rate, Brosamer said, because Suulutaaq subcontracted much of the job to the giant Peter Kiewit Sons Inc. engineering firm, which also is a contractor on the Bay Bridge.

“The reality is, Suulutaaq isn’t doing much,” Brosamer said.

Federal records show that Suulutaaq is paying Kiewit $28.1 million – 53 percent of the total stimulus contract. Suulutaaq is keeping about $20.4 million, or 38 percent of the total. The rest, about $4.7 million, goes to other subcontractors, all from the lower 48 states.

So, basically, a white wheeler-dealer got himself appointed CEO of a shell company that’s legally classified as an “Alaska Native corporation,” then, using this unique privileged status, finagled a no-bid contract to get $54 million in taxpayer funds for a construction job — and then used a small portion of that money to hire subcontractors to do the actual work, while pocketing the rest as pure profit.

Nice, eh? And guess what: You’re the sucker in this swindle.

One has the suspicion that the entire “Stimulus” is nothing but countless Wine Train-style deals bundled together and given an uplifting name to disguise that fact that it’s little more than a thousand unnecessary crooked backroom scams with essentially no oversight.

Handouts to shysters as economic theory? I feel like getting drunk. All aboard!

Obummer, what a DEFICIT HAWK! Hey, if this guy knows where all the fraud and abuse in Medicare is at, why doesn't he STOP BUDGETING MORE MONEY and instead save the taxpayers a dime and CUT THE FRAUD AND ABUSE OUT! This loser of a President really takes the cake. And lies while he's doing it.

Obama's Budget Bypasses Big Health Cuts
    February 2, 2010
    By Nadja Popovich

Science and health departments must be breathing a collective sigh of relief after President Obama's unveiling of the proposed 2011 budget yesterday, at least for now.

President Obama presented his 2011 budget proposal yesterday in Washington, DC. The plan included an increase in spending on health and science.

Despite recent tough rhetoric on deficit reduction and the planned spending freeze on non-defense programs, the budget proposes a boost in spending on health and scientific research.

President Obama laid out a plan that included more discretionary spending for Health and Human Services -- $81.9B, up from $79.6B in 2010. A bit over a third of this money --$32B -- is designated for the National Institutes of Health, a $1B budget increase over last year.

The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality may also benefit. Under the proposal, it's budget would grow from roughly $400 million last year to $611 million in this year's budget.

Medicare and Medicaid still make up the bulk of the healthcare budget proposal -- $818B of the government's total proposed $911B health budget. But neither of those programs were slated to be a part of the spending freeze in the first place.

According to NPR's Julie Rovner, Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius said that some of the proposed budgetary increases are aimed at "laying the groundwork" for healthcare overhaul -- assuming it will eventually pass.

Global health programs would also get a 9% increase in funding over last year under the budget proposal, including the expansion of support for both PEPFAR and the President's Malaria Initiative, among other considerations.

  19. Hey Obama: YOU LIE:

Throughout the presidential campaign, candidate Barack Obama promised that 95% of Americans would see a tax cut.

After the election, Obama deceitfully changed the Tax Withholding tables that resulted in Americans getting more money in their paychecks.

But, our president conveniently forgot to mention that the extra money will be taxed back to the government the following year.

It was a neat Chicago-style trick Obama probably learned from the corrupt political machine that hatch the 44th president of the United States.

    But wait there’s more!

Reuters reports that Obama intends to stick it even deeper to the American people.

“The Obama administration's plan to cut more than $1 trillion from the deficit over the next decade relies heavily on so-called backdoor tax increases that will result in a bigger tax bill for middle-class families.

In the 2010 budget tabled by President Barack Obama on Monday, the White House wants to let billions of dollars in tax breaks expire by the end of the year -- effectively a tax hike by stealth.

While the administration is focusing its proposal on eliminating tax breaks for individuals who earn $250,000 a year or more, middle-class families will face a slew of these backdoor increases.”

Conservatives knew all along that Obama was lying through his teeth about his no tax increase pledge.

Now the lies are coming home to roost.

  20. And now some news on FAILk's other heros, Che and Hugo Chavez. You love them don't you FAILk!??! They're everything you (and everyone else) is sure Obummer can be.

In Venezuela, Rage Against Chavez’s Marxist Machine, While Movie Stars Sport Che’s Icon
    by Humberto Fontova

Hugo Chavez’ inspirational debt to Ernesto “Che” Guevara is such that he titled his regime’s socio-economic model, “Mision Che Guevara.” Don’t look for much of this in the MSM–but as I write Venezuela’s youth are hitting the streets in the tens of thousands and with raised fists–against socialism (having gotten a taste of it.)

In response, Chavez’ police and brownshirt goon-squads (some mimicking their national leader by wearing Che T-shirts) bludgeon, tear gas, shoot and arrest hundreds of rebellious Venezuelan youth.

In fact, nothing could be more fitting. In a famous speech in 1961, Che Guevara denounced the very “spirit of rebellion” as “reprehensible.” “Youth must refrain from ungrateful questioning of governmental mandates” commanded Guevara. “Instead they must dedicate themselves to study, work and military service.” (Wow, sounds like something Obummer would have written. "Don't listen to Fox, it's not news. Join my youth work program!)

And woe to those youths “who stayed up late at night and thus reported to work (government forced-labor) tardily.” Youth, wrote Guevara, “should learn to think and act as a mass.” Those who “chose their own path” (as in growing long hair and listening to Yankee-Imperialist Rock & Roll) were denounced as worthless “lumpen” and “delinquents.” In his famous speech Che Guevara even vowed, “to make individualism disappear from Cuba! It is criminal to think of individuals!” he raved. (more… http://bigjournalism.com/hfontova/2010/02/01/in-venezuela-rage-against-chavezs-marxist-machine-while-pop-celebrate-ches-icon/)

  21. Jesus, Rahm is out of control. I think that is terrible what he said. This reminds me of when Grayson called that one lady a whore. What on earth is wrong with these people! These people are supposed to be our "elder statesmen", but they are all behaving like a bunch of classless losers.

I would not be true to my son if I did not call these people out for the things they say. Rahm should at the very least be admonished by the President, and he should apologize publicly. I don't think he should be fired, but he definitely needs to work on watching his mouth.

I agree with Bruce though that Rahm is too centrist. If he can't pull the ship to a more Progressive course, President Obama needs to find someone who can.
